Pet care experience
Hi- I'm Garrett, I have been a professional in the dog world since 2008 when I opened up my dog bakery named 'Bark! Natures Treats'. In 2012 life demanded a move to New York City; I have been a professional dog walker/pet care giver as owner of The Dog Walking Co ever since. Our home, on the gracious Upper West Side, consists of a bright and clean 1 bedroom apartment (on the 1st floor- great for older dogs) that I share with my husband, Alex (an airline pilot), and our beloved Australian Shepherd, Nigel. We are non-smokers & live in the w 70s off of quiet Westend Ave, 1 block from the Riverside Parks and 4 blocks from Central Park. I am especially experienced in caring for dogs with special needs and with those on medicine schedules. In addition to sleep-away-camp at Camp Nigel, I also offer my dog walking services.

This was our our first experience with Rover.com and I'm very glad to have found Garrett -Lynx will definitely be going there again. He made it very easy from the get-go by being very quick to respond and communicate, especially since this was a last minute decision to go away. I had no worries whatsoever leaving Lynx with Garrett and his very awesome pup Nigel. Lynx was very well taken care of and seemed to really have enjoyed his stay.
My two chihuahuas were getting so bored and restless at home while I was off at work during the day. A friend of mine referred me to Garrett for dog walking and dog sitting, and and I'm so glad! My usually timid and shy chihuahuas were comfortable with Garrett from the start. He's a natural with all dogs, and it's wonderful knowing my dogs are getting some exercise and fresh air with someone I totally trust, and someone they like!
We have had nothing less than awesome experiences with Garrett! He has watched our dog Penny about 10 times and she always is very happy (and tired!) when she returns. Garrett does a great job communicating & sending pictures as well. We are grateful to have a friend in Garrett and his dog Nigel!
My dog and I both love Garrett! He's kind, reliable and conscientious. It makes me feel secure to know that I have someone like Garrett to depend on in the city. I'm so glad we found him and highly recommend his services.

Is your dog potty trained? (I only take dogs that are completely potty trained) Does your dog have any aggression toward other people or dogs? Does your dog have separation anxiety? Are there any known health issues? What is your dog's daily routine?
A typical day
Here's where we'll take our walks Riverside Park, for those of you who are not familiar, is one of the most beloved places for dogs in Manhattan. It is quiet, there are no cars, there are three wonderful dog runs, and the summer offers cooling breezes off the Hudson River. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Some of my visitors sleep in a crate that I have available. If your dog is more laid back or large, he is welcome to sleep in the living room on a bed you provide, or a comfy blanket that I offer. Time I'll spend with your dog I will walk your dog up to 4 times a day. Once when I wake up, around 7am, again around lunch, an afternoon stroll, and one more walk before bed. When I am home in the morning and evening, outside of the walks, your dog is more than welcome to lounge around with Nigel and me while we cook dinner, watch TV, and even practice commands. Most times there is someone at home 24/7. Since I'm a dog walker and I own my own business, my schedule is flexible: meaning I make frequent pop-ins throughout the day. I am 100% available on the weekends. My husband's work schedule keeps him home & available M-F so, most times there is 24/7 supervision.

Why I love dog sitting I grew up with dogs, and have never lived a day without one in my life. My first dog, Precious, gave birth to puppies when I was 13 years old, so I learned very early on how to care for dogs. Today, my Australian Shepherd rescue named Nigel brings so much joy to my life.
