Pet care experience
Caring for animals is an important part of learning about charity and empathy. I was lucky enough to grow up with animals, and I can't imagine living without them! My childhood with animals transitioned into a career of fostering, adopting, and shelter work, and I'm never going to stop caring for pets! I've had a wide variety of dogs since I was nine years old. Those experiences fueled my passion for animals and for the past 7 years my mother and I have fostered over 80 dogs (including 5 different litters of puppies) through One Tail at a Time. It's been incredibly rewarding looking after these deserving animals and helping them find forever homes. Before moving to Vegas, I worked at The Anti-Cruelty Society as an adoption counselor and animal care specialist, where I became proficient in nutrition, training, medical, and behavioral skills related to dogs, cats, and rabbits. I have worked with aggressive, traumatized, untrained, and sick animals through fostering, owning, and working at an animal shelter. My priority is not just your pet's safety and comfort, its your comfort too! I know how hard it is to leave your animals behind, even if you're really excited about your trip! Before our stay I'll go over your pet's history with you, I want to know everything about them so you can be confident I can care for them just like you do! I'm ambitious, dedicated , and creative. I strive to push myself in my work and my personal life. When I've decided to do something, I don't stop until I've reached that goal. I have known Gaby personally and professionally for almost 3 years, and have always been impressed with her level of care and love for every animal in her care. I would like to know any specific medical or behavioral needs. It's important that I can predict how the dog might react in any given situation to keep myself and the pet safe. It's always helpful to know if the dog has certain likes and dislikes when it comes to other dogs, people, or especially enjoys any treats. I don't have any breed preferences, I've worked with everything from pit bulls to Chihuahuas to Australian cattle dogs!
A typical day
I can take your dogs to their favorite park (if they have one), or I usually stick to the family's neighborhood so it is familiar for the pet. I'll make sure your pup is sufficiently tired out with games of tug and war and fetch!
