Caring and conscientious
Pet care experience
Ever since I adopted my first greyhound, Fly, in 2018, I have been an enthusiastic student of dog behaviour and training, getting all the information I could find on dog websites and YouTube channels, books, and online courses about caring for my new friend and understanding him. I am currently following two courses by Ian Dunbar about solving common behaviour problems and basic training practices. In April 2019, I fostered a greyhound called Shadow, whose owner was no longer able to properly care for him. At first it was supposed to be a temporary arrangement until a permanent home was found for Shadow. I completely failed at being just temporary, and I officially adopted Shadow within two months of getting him. Since I work from home as a translator, I am lucky enough to adopt two big dogs and care for them. I can see how they interact with each other for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All the new behaviours that I teach and all the old commands that I reinforce are extremely rewarding and every training session deepens the bond that we have. I bring the same conscientiousness and empathy to the walking and boarding services that I offer to families just like my own. I provide solo dog walks and group dog walks based on the client’s preference and the personalities of all the dogs. While dogs are social by nature, not all dogs have the same vocabulary or reactivity, so group activities may need to be introduced in small doses, if introduced at all. I also offer boarding in my house. A client’s dog will not sleep in a crate unless that dog feels more secure that way. Sometimes a dog sleeping in a new environment — in the company of two other dogs — prefers having the security of four walls. Thank you for reading my bio, and good luck in your canine adventure!
