Retired Dog Trainer, Secure Yard
Pet care experience
About this sitter: My wife Elaine and I offer boarding for dogs weighing up to 25 pounds. My name is Frank DeMarco and I have worked with dogs for over 35 years. We offer boarding for special needs or just plain special small dogs. Your dog will live in our home as one of our own. They can get on the furniture and play in our totally secure large backyard under our supervision. No extra charge to administer medications or to prepare special diets. We will strictly adhere to your instructions concerning your pets’ diet and care. I have trained for and served as Director of Training for the oldest AKC member Obedience Club in the nation. I have also been the Director of Obedience for Argon Schutzhund Club, ran the obedience classes for the City of Skokie for over 15 years, and ran my own group and private obedience classes. I have been boarding dogs in my home for over 20 years. While I have retired from training I still love being around dogs so now I do boarding and get to play with new dogs plus my own. In addition to the required "Meet and Greet", we have a detailed questionnaire to be completed before the dog's first stay. Besides owner info and medical info on the dog it asks questions about your dog’s preferences and behavior. I have experience and am comfortable giving both inject-able and oral medications. Why I love dog sitting What is not to love about it? I get new dogs to play with plus my dogs get new friends too! Meet my pets We have dogs of our own to play with your dog. Our dogs are social and well-behaved with guest dogs. I have headed both the Chihuahua Meetup Group and the Chicago Small-breed Mettup Group and regularly have dog parties in my yard. Our dogs love guests. About my yard We have a large, fully fenced backyard. The fence is 6' stockade with no areas your dog could escape through or under. They are not left outside alone. We go out with the dogs to supervise them. We have a small plastic pool for their enjoyment when it is warm out. Water is available as are toys and shade.
Reviews
I can’t think of a better place than Franks house when I travel for work! Having the peace of mind that Lola is having fun and is well take care of is worth every penny. Thank you Frank and Elaine for always taking Lola in with open arms!
Frank is great and takes great care of my little Frenchie!
This is Lola’s second stay with Frank and Elaine and she has a blast every time! Her favorite part is the fenced back yard! Thanks Frank and Elaine- I sure Lola can’t wait to visit again!
Frank is terrific -- absolutely our first choice whenever we have to leave our two senior chihuahuas with anyone. We highly recommend him!

The safety and security of your pet is our primary concern quickly followed by their comfort and enjoyment. Our spacious yard is enclosed by a 6’ privacy fence. The entry way from both the front and rear are “double gated” meaning you enter through 1 gate into a small area then have to open a second gate to enter the yard. All dogs are fed separately so resource guarding or food aggression issues are eliminated. Besides being able to enjoy supervised play in our dog friendly yard a vast majority of our home is open for their enjoyment or to just relax. Dogs are allowed on our furniture and we have a number of dog beds placed around the house. We try to mimic the dogs sleeping arrangements at their home. We do limit the dogs on our bed to only one family group. We don’t want dogs who are unfamiliar with each other sleeping together. If your dog is used to sleeping in a crate we have them available.

A typical day
Here's where we'll take our walks I want your dog's stay to be safe and stress-free. I have a large yard for the dogs to enjoy. I do not walk guest dogs. While your dog may like me I am not you. If something happens (your leash breaks, the collar comes off, I drop the leash) and your dog is running free they will probably look for you rather than come to me. By staying in my yard the problem is non-existent. They exercise, play, or just relax in a very safe and controlled setting. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Dogs sleep where you want them to sleep. While I do have crates available if you want me to crate your dog, most dogs sleep either on the couch or on my bed. It is my goal to make your dog's stay here as safe and stress-free as possible. Time I'll spend with your dog Dog sitting is something I do full time now that I am retired. I am not a student, a part time employee or anything else. On average I am with your dog 22 hours a day. I do go out to shop, have dinner or an occasional evening out but it is never for more than 4 hours.
