WE REQUIRE MEET-N-GREETS AT LEAST ONE WEEK PRIOR TO STAYS. *We are the ONLY Rover dog care providers in Pendleton that are pet CPR/First Aid certified, have passed an enhanced background check, and completed Rover's pet care best practices.* Little dogs are special and unique! My wife and I have had dogs for over thirty years and have professionally cared for small dogs for eleven years. Our dog Angel is a fifteen-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund who loves to cuddle and play fetch. We have over 95+ five-star reviews because we offer: SAFETY FIRST. We believe dogs in our care cannot be happy unless they're safe. Dogs who stay with us are always within sight, always secure, and protected by items like baby gates, locked doors, and a limited number of pooches. This ensures the individualized care your small dog deserves. HEALTH & COMFORT. Upon each stay we want to know if there are any health problems and how we can help your pup to thrive. We only feed our guests the food they came with, are happy to administer meds (including insulin and chemotherapy), and keep our home clean and cozy. AFFECTION & DISCIPLINE. We adhere to LIMA (least invasive, minimally aversive) standards as members of the Pet Professional Guild, The International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, and The Association of Professional Dog Trainers. Much of our inspiration comes from positive reinforcement trainers like Dr. Ian Dunbar, Patricia McConnell, and Suzanne Clothier. This means we attend behavioral issues with rewards for positive behavior. An example: On a walk, another owner may pass our pack with a dog that acts erratic (barking, lunging). We keep clients safe by responding with calm, keeping our heads high, ignoring the other unruly dog, and utilizing verbal and other cues to mitigate stress. Such a strategy keeps the pack cohesive and the walk smooth. *ALL DOGS ARE SCREENED CAREFULLY* (meet-n-greets and trial stays) so that stays are safe & happy for each dog. Because of this we only take dogs who are: ~Responsive to commands and able to be generally calm (if your dog rules your home, we're probably not a good fit for you). ~Clean with trim nails. A dog who comes to us dirty or with long nails will not be invited back. ~Are not aggressive and are fully housebroken. High energy is okay but if your dog has ever bitten another person or dog, lunges at other dogs on walks, growls at others or cannot sit when asked, we may not be a right fit for you. ~Under 25lbs (will consider up to 35lbs but this is rare). ~We prefer dogs who are kennel trained but this isn't required depending on circumstances.
