Specialize in unique behaviors

Pet care experience

I consider myself so fortunate to have spent the past five years working with special needs animals and over a year working for myself with some of the sweetest creatures I've ever met and many of my new best friends. Feel free to snoop on us @Frandowntheway I trained as an animal care giver with the compassionate dog walking business Freedom Tails in Boston. We worked with dogs and cats with special requirements, either medical or behavioral. My clients have included rescues from all over the country, fosters from natural disasters, dogs over 15 years old, puppies under 5 months, reactive and energetic walkers with every kind of opinion on other strangers and skateboards, and even a few unexpected neighbors. In my personal life, I've also lived with every size and type of cats, fish(not my speciality, but I am very good at following instructions), rabbits, reptiles, and once even a piglet! If you are concerned about anything I don't mention, feel free to send me a message. I try and check my profile daily.

Frances was wonderful staying with our cat while we were out of town! Left great notes throughout the day about how our cat was doing and I could tell she really cared about her being comfortable! Our cat was relaxed and happy when we got home ☺️

Frances is an incredibly thoughtful sitter. Cy clearly loved his time with her, I got amazing updates, and she left my home probably better than I did. Absolutely recommend and have already booked her again.

Frances is a wonderful sitter for our pup. She’s thoughtful, responsible and reliable. I trust she will always take good care of both Cy and our home.

Frances is wonderful with dogs. She was so patient and sweet with our 12 week old pup. Sent adorable photos and earned his trust quickly.

My first goal with every animal I meet is to find out what motivates, scares, and calms them! Just like us, our pets have their own unique personalities and needs, and I am always happy to meet your pup where they are! I always prefer an in-person meet and greet before our first booking. Those 30 minutes (about) with you and your pup provide a great baseline for them to associate with me and me with them as well as the opportunity for us to go over details.

MOST IMPORTANT: If your dog has acted aggressively before or is a bite risk, even if they only threaten, please let me know! Although I do have experience, I am not a trainer so will need to follow up with you beforehand to keep us all safe. Whether they're an adult rescue from a traumatic situation, a lil Napolean, or just easily overwhelmed by the city, I'm ready to love them, but I can't set us up for success if I don't know what to expect. I require ar least one meeting if this is the case, preferably a half hour so we can go for a walk as well. I like to meet beforehand when possible to help ease the transition. If the booking is last minute, a phone or video call is fine in most cases, I just ask that you inform me of any medications, allergies, stressors, or unique reactions. I've found the only true recipie for disaster is to underestimate these chaos demons so if you're worried you're that pet parent, I probably won't mind.

A typical day

I still provide walks to some regular clients throughout the week so if your pup cannot be around other animals or alone for more than an hour, please let me know so I can adjust my availability accordingly! My regulars and I got too used to the quiet during the winter months and are trying to come up with some solutions to crowded, hot city summers. My photo skills are decent, but I make up for it in enthusiasm and fancy galaxy cameras! With a background managing social media for a political advocacy group, I am rarely bothered by photo requests or unexpected messages! Don't worry about figuring out time differences; I'll get back to you quick unless I'm asleep. I also spent many years in the food industry so unless your pet's busier than a political candidate, ruder than a packed bar after midnight, and angrier than a chef in the weeds, I've worked with worse. Some of my favorite things to do with my clients: dog beach, coney Island (anytime of year), Target runs (free Starbucks refills and lots of new friends). The goal is always to return your fluffer ready to curl up for some cuddles and a nap when you get home.

I work part time out of the house but keep my schedule updated! I predominately housesit and provide care to animals while their owners are away along with working to meet various special needs. This means I can be flexible in mornings and evenings and have kept strange hours before! Afternoons, I work on other projects but almost entirely from my laptop so as long as you have an outlet, I am good! I have regulars I stay with throughout the year, in NYC and beyond so i mostly use Rover for last minute bookings if you're in a pinch! My calendar is updated every Sunday, and I check my messages daily.
