MY ANIMAL EXPERIENCE: When I was a child, we would often find stray dogs and pregnant feline mothers left at our doorstep. I'm not sure how we became the go-to place for animals with nowhere to go, but because of such a critter-filled upbringing, I've made so many memorable pet relationships and learned a thing or two about animal care for a variety of creatures. I've owned rabbits, rats, mice, ferrets, chickens, goats, ducks, turkey, coturnix quail, bearded dragons, and cockatiels, and the animal kingdom has, for the most part, been a friend to me. I have taken care of domestic cats (and some feral) and dogs since I was at least 8; I have assisted in tube feedings (both throat for malnourished kittens and stomach tube due to kidney failure) to keep animals alive, and birthing. I've sat with mine and other's pets to comfort them as they crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Overall, I feel I have a deep-rooted connection with most creatures I come in contact with.
