Pet care experience

See @feliciasitsroverstays on Instagram or @feliciasits on Twitter for a preview of our facilities and frequent updates on the dogs that stay here! Professionally, I've done a few years of drop-in dog sitting and walking in addition to caring for dogs and cats in the homes of children I nannied. I also did quite a bit of community service in my home town of Gardnerville, NV at the Douglas County Animal Shelter before we moved here (Louisville/Mount Washington). In my free time, I am an avid reader and I care for my father and senior dog. She is 13 this year and requires assistance on to and off of the couch and bed, and the occasional medication (particularly in allergy season), which I happily provide. Most recently we've had to hurdle her distaste for prescription eye drops. I have a passion for making sure senior and "undesirable" or "mean" breed dogs get the absolute best care and even more spoiled than puppies; they've earned it. A little more about me: I have spent the last few years returning to study English at the University of Louisville. My intention was to become a librarian, but recently I have noticed my passions have shifted: I'm going to pursue my passion for caretaking; specifally for dogs. I have 72 credit hours at the University giving me junior status, I participated in cheerleading for my first three years of high school and also volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club, where I gained considerable social skills. In the summer of 2008, I attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine at Berkeley, where I was HIPAA certified and learned a great deal about leadership and professionalism, while also getting rid of any squeamish-ness I had left. I finished my freshman year of college during my senior year of high school, showing my ambition and drive for success, and I am very proud of my highly acclaimed, compassionate customer service skills. *All day care and boarding dogs must have a flea and tick collar, otherwise one will be purchased for an additional $8 fee* (This is because we've had a pretty common tick problem in the backyard and dogs that have been treated orally or topically were still getting bitten and bringing in ticks. Collars are purchased new specifically for your dog and the collar is yours to keep after the service. The one I use is Adam's brand from Feeder's Supply, but adjustments can be made for allergies) **Every dog will be given a flea "pill" upon arrival** (This is a one-time chewable that kills fleas and flea eggs beginning one hour after ingestion. This is to protect and prevent spreading to your dog, my dog, and any other dogs that may be staying here, and the home itself. The pill I use the chewable Bayer Advantus brand, 37.5 mg or imidacloprid for dogs 23-110 lbs and 7.5 mg for dogs 4-23 lbs - it comes highly recommended by my veterinarian but is still over-the-counter, not prescription, and again adjustments can be made for allergies or potential interaction)

Felicia was the purrfect cat sitter. She did in home visits my for cats. I received daily pictures and even videos of my furbabies. She was very attentive to my cats needs , giving daily lovings, rubbings, scooping cat litter, and provided the appropriate food for each cat. I would highly recommend her for your next pet sitter. I did not worry about my furbabies while I was on vacation because I knew they were receiveing top notch care from Felicia.

Felicia is PHENOMENAL. I would pick her 12x out of 10. I'd never boarded Morrie in the past & was incredibly nervous about doing so. Felicia put all of my worries to rest. She sent me updates all throughout the day while Morrie was on an extended-stay with her. She gave Morrie so much love and care, I couldn't ask for anyone better! Morrie and I loved our experience with Felicia!!

Felicia is amazing!! The day we were leaving for our first EVER family vacation, our dog sitter had to cancel. It was late in the evening and we were afraid that we would have to cancel our trip and upset our four girls. I reluctantly reached out to Felicia. I was nervous because we don't leave our baby with anyone, this was our first time leaving him. She responded within a few minutes and agreed to meet with us right away. Zeus was comfortable with her immediately. She stayed in contact with us the entire time with updates on his day and how he was eating. Without Felicia our trip would have been ruined. She also gave us a piece of mind knowing that he was in such good hands.

She was great with my dogs. They seemed to enjoy their time with her. Will definitely ask her to take care of my 2 dogs again.

Information Felicia F. would like to know about your pet

I need to know if your dog is amicable or aggressive around other dogs and under what circumstances; if they can handle stairs; there are no children here, but child preferences should still be identified; feeding instructions and dietary restrictions including people food/table scrap policies; play and walk preferences; general bathroom habits (frequency, urgency, signals, training); any medical issues, restrictions, or instructions. ALL BREEDS WELCOME!

A typical day

A stay here will include LOTS of cuddling (no matter how big!) and an acre of land with a koi pond (oh also a pirate ship, but more importantly a fence) to run around on as long as they'd like. My baby doesn't like the rain, but for the water dogs I don't mind cleaning up some muddy paws... or bellies... or necks! We also have a dog-friendly pool for any dogs that are inclined to jump in while someone is in the pool to supervise. Walks available upon owner (or pupper) request [I don't have an aversion to them or anything, it's just something I haven't had to do for a while with my old lady baby, so I just need to know your preferences]. I live in a bit of a remote neighborhood in Mount Washington, but there are plenty of quiet roads to explore in the neighborhood on those walks (and not so remote that it takes too long to get anywhere; by remote I mostly mean the houses aren't crowded together). There are even a few small farms and occasionally the one behind us lets sheep or cows into the adjacent section of his field- so lots of interesting things to bark at. Play is also available for dogs who like to play [with me, my (adult) brother, my father and with a very friendly, still a bit spry senior dog], although my girl never really took to toys so some toys may need to be provided. My Lo does enjoy some gentle friendly sniffing and jumping, but generally gets bored or tired within an hour or so- shes much more of a people person [dog]. Overnight guests of all sizes have a reserved spot on the bed with LOTS of fluffy, soft blankets. Dietary restrictions and medication instructions will be abided to the LETTER. Most of all, LOTS AND LOTS OF LOVE!
