The fun, love, and care your pet deserves!

Pet care experience

Caring for animals is my labour of love. I am a passionate animal lover, doing it for the joy of seeing happy pets more than for the money. I have owned, trained and nurtured dogs, cats, and small animals since I was a child. I have experience with puppies and elderly dogs. I believe in meeting animals on their own terms - like people, each pet has their own personality! Any needs your pet has will be met. I have been boarding dogs for the last 2 years. These include large dogs (e.g., labradors/german shepherds/dalmation cross), medium sized dogs (e.g., border collie, cockapoo, spaniels) and small dogs (e.g., miniaiture shnauzer, dachshund). I understand the difference in requirements for different dog breeds, as well as for varying energy levels, grooming needs, and dietary requirements. I live in a large ground floor flat with access to a fenced courtyard. All dogs I look after are taken on at least two long walks a day (unIess the owner requests otherwise) and on other walks to the field just over the road for longer toilet breaks and sniffs. The Harborne High Street is a 3 minute walk away from my home, so any emergency needs will mean the animal will only be left at home alone for a maximum of 30 minutes. I also absolutely love taking photos - I would be happy to try and take some beautiful snaps of your animals for you during their stay! I volunteered in an Exotic Pet Refuge in Lincolnshire when I was 18 which required a great level of trust. I cared for a wide range of animals - from goats and wolf dogs to alligators and owls! I am a hybrid worker and so I work from home. My job is incredibly flexible, meaning I can take breaks when I like to give your pet as much attention as it needs. I believe in positive reinforcement for animals. There will be absolutely no shouting or physical restraint. Treats will be provided free of charge and I own a fresh water and dog bowl. Ideally, leads, beds, blankets, and toys would be provided by the owner so that the dog will not feel territorial around the scent of previously used items. I live right next to Harborne Walkway - a long, beautiful pathway away from main roads, with a lovely stream - and a large field, Metchley Park. I work from home and I am available to walk, run and play with your pet from morning to night. Any amount of desired walks can be met! I will wash your pet for free if they get dirty or if requested. Animals are allowed to roam over the entire property. I am happy to let them sleep in the bed or in a bed provided in the living room (with access to all other rooms if needed). There are no toxic plants in the house. I have experience looking after animals with medical requirements. For instance, a spaniel I have boarded and walked for a long time has severe leg bone complications and requires constant attention and care to make sure they do not exert too much force. I have also been responsible for giving medication at certain times. I live with my partner, James, of 2 years who is also a huge animal lover and volunteers as animal carer on standby in case there is ever something demanding my attention.

Evie and Jimmy are so welcoming and put both us as dog parents and our dog with separation anxiety at ease. We will definitely be using again. Very professional and so caring.

If I could give more stars I would. Evie and her partner have took the best care of our boy, better than we could have ever imagined! Daily pictures and updates from walks and nice times they’ve had together have been heartwarming, there is honestly not enough words in the English dictionary to describe how happy we are. Evie you are an angel! There’s no one else now who we will leave Winston with.

Evie has been a huge help over the years with Bobby, providing me huge flexibility when I need to be away from home. She is the only person I trust outside of our household to look after him. She always takes on board my long list of ludicrous requests, and even looked after/nursed him days after major knee surgery when I had to be away for a week. Bob loves her very much and loves it when he goes to hers or she comes here (or occasionally when we all go for long walks together.) You won't meet a nicer person to look after your favourite living creature :)

Information Evie J. would like to know about your pet

I need to know your dog's personality and their requirements. If your dog prefers less stimulation and would like to be left alone to chill out on the sofa, please let me know! If they require lots of attention, love and cuddles, that can also be arranged. The following is what I need to know: - What commands do they know? - Food requirements (meal times, types of treats they are/are not allowed, what is their favourite) - Exercise requirements (length of walks, speed of walks, location of walks) - Are they allowed near water? Will they need a bath if they go in water? - Are they okay around gerbils? - Will they need to sleep in their own bed or can they sleep on the sofa? - Is there anything that scares them? - Is there any medication or any additional needs?

A typical day

When you have told me all about what your dog enjoys for fun, I will make sure to create a wonderful time for them. If they love long walks and runs, I will take them on a long hike around the reservoir, down the Harborne walkway, or to Metchley park for games of catch and dips in the brook. All dogs who are able will receive at least 2 half an hour walks per day, and longer if requested. There are many toilet breaks, lots of cuddles available, small treats when they're on their walks (if they're allowed!), and meals on time. If they have any special requirements, i.e., no going in water, no running far because of a hurt paw, then that is absolutely fine. You just need to let me know.
