I am writing this on behalf of my son, Evan. He has a serious soft spot for dogs and his love and attention for them is obvious. On numerous occasions, he has stopped to rescue stray dogs that have sneaked out of their home. I love seeing those random pictures of him snuggling up to a dog and on occasion, the happy return to the owner. If there is a random dog roaming the streets, Evan is sure to check it out. The message I really want to send is that Evan is truly has a knack for taking care of pets. I can attest to this as he was amazing during the last few years that we had our beloved family dog. Ginger was a 130 pound St. Bernard/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. She struggled with her health and arthritis near the end. My husband and I work full time so we were out of the house very early and came home late. This was when Evan was in high school. I was so grateful to him as he made sure she was taken care of and was comfortable. He made sure she was able to get back inside after doing her business. If not, he was able to lift her up (not an easy task for a 130 pound dog) and get her comfortable before he left for school. He would make sure she was taken care of when he got home and on occasion, came home for lunch to ensure she was doing OK. On that rare occasion when Ginger had an accident, Evan took charge, cleaned up so that we didn’t he even know about it by the time we got home. They formed quite a bond and Ginger would follow him everywhere. I will forever appreciate his attention to her. It’s difficult seeing your pet’s health decline, but it was comforting knowing Evan was there when we could not be. I believe Evan would be a huge asset as no matter what pet he encounters, he will take care of it as his own. Thank you, Amy S.
