Availability
I work Mon-Friday for a small, close-knit company under a flexible working model. Typically I walk or get the train to work, around 30-40 minutes, 4 days a week to a dog friendly office on Speirs Wharf, and work one day from home - however I can change which days and how many relatively easily, given notice. As dog owners themselves and also close friends of mine, taking your dog for short pee-breaks and a walk along the canal during the working day as needed will be absolutely accepted by my colleagues. The office is generally a quiet and chilled environment but we do share a building with others so do make me aware of your dog barks at people coming or going or the occasional noise in a different part of the building. Should a quiet, dog friendly office environment be unsuitable for your dog, please do let me know and I can attempt to work around this. At home, I have Alexandra Park on my doorstep for toilet breaks and lunchtime walks on days working from home. There is also a fenced area within Alexandra Park where I can let your dog off the lead. In the evenings and at weekends I like to take walks and spend time outdoors in the surrounding areas and would be free to spend time with any pet in my care. I also have access to a car so do let me know if your pet travels well and would enjoy a trip to the beach or a hike.

Safety, trust & environment
I live with one flatmate in a pet free home currently. It can be a social household - we like to have friends over for dinner - your pet will certainly not starve for attention. For the most part, however, it is a calm and peaceful environment with plentiful soft furnishings for pets to choose to nap on. My flatmate also regularly pet-sits and is a longtime dog and cat owner, so together we make a dream team.

Information Esther S. would like to know about your pet
Do let me know if there are any particular behaviours I should be aware of. I’ve looked after reactive dogs of varying degrees in the past so have experience there but it’s good to know in advance. It’s also important I know what their normal schedule is so I can stick to it and make your pet feel comfortable especially if it’s in a new environment. Written instructions when your pet is dropped off is very useful for me as I sit lots of different pets and sometimes it can be tricky for me to remember everything after one meeting or conversation!
A typical day
A nice lengthy walk with lots of smells is standard. If your dog is comfortable in a cafe or pub environment I also like to occasionally take them on outings with friends. But best of all I always look forward to snuggling up on the sofa together in the evening to watch some telly and scratch their ears!

Experienced Pet-Sitter with Dog Friendly Office
Pet care experience
I’ve been pet sitting professionally through Rover since 2022 but I’ve been a dog owner since we got our family dog when I was aged 11. In later years I was often tasked with pet-sitting whilst my parents travelled so coming to this app I was already experienced in being the sole carer for a pet and well aware of the level of effort required. Since our family pet died a couple of years ago I’ve been craving the company of a wee four legged friend to fill the dog shaped hole in my heart, however, know that I am not ready to make a full time commitment to owning my own pet just yet.

Reviews

Esther is always reliable and I know my dog is in completely safe hands with her. I have used her several times and will again!

We would absolutely recommend Esther! Everything from communication to meeting Esther to keeping in touch while we were away was smooth and we felt very confident leaving our pup in her hands. Not only was she a great buddy to Rhu during the week but she also took great care of our home! We’d happily have Esther sit Rhu again!

Esther was great. She helped me out almost last minute, gave me lots of updates and my dog seemed happy. She followed my directions and was very understanding about some problematic behaviours my dog has. Thank you so much!

Esther’s communication was very good and Lomu seemed really comfortable with her from the get go. We would definitely recommend her!
