I look after a dog occasionally. She thoroughly enjoys her walks along the river next to where I live and in Clissold Park. We play fetch and she socialises with other dogs. I think it is important physically and mentally for dogs to have at least a 1 hour walk twice a day I have had 2 cats stay over on 2 different occasions. They all make themselves at home when they visit or board. I am at home 6 days a week so the pets are well cared for and receive lots of attention. I have a cat of my own and also have 2 ponies which we visit occasionally. I grew up with cats and dogs so I naturally feel very comfortable and confident around them which means they warm to me quite quickly. I have learned from dog trainers and from experience that in order to gain respect from a dog it means giving lots of exercise and affection it’s also important that I show the dogs in my care that I am the pack leader by using hand signals and body language, this gains their respect which then means the dogs are well behaved, happy and loyal.
