Morning at the dog park w/ friends!

Pet care experience

I've personally raised 3 dogs since I was 12, a couple of them since they were 6-8 weeks old. Aside from vet visits I've always taken care of everything else myself from washing and grooming to nail clipping to training. I've watched other people's pets from time to time while their owners were out vacationing and have lived in households with other animals, at one point 3 service retrievers and a raven! I have a great love for pets and can't see my life without them. Right now I have an adoptee, Oscar, that I got at 8 months. He's turning 4 soon. I spend most of my mornings at my local dog park with him, and when my husband and I take road trips Oscar will be right by us every step of the way!

Esther is an amazing dog sitter! She went above and beyond caring for my Scottie. I am relieved to have been able to find someone as great as she is, who truly loves dogs. Will definitely book her for dog sitting again in the near future.

Esther was a great dog sitter. She arrived on time, played with our dogs, made sure they had water, discarded their droppings, and gave them the attention and care they needed. She worked to ensure she built trust with our timid dog. She was flexible, knowledgeable, experienced, capable, accommodating and pleasant. I felt very comfortable leaving our girls in her care. I would whole heartedly endorse her to other pet parents and would use her again. Esther was a consumate professional and a pleasure to work with.

Owners can be sure their dogs are in great hands with me. I already spend my mornings at a gated park for an hour or so during weekdays where I pick up after the dogs under my watch and keep an eye on their interactions. I'll always have a water spray bottle on me in case of a ruckus as dogs can sometimes behave like children or promiscuous teenagers. While I do know all the regulars at the park owners should be mindful I will run into strangers and how well their dogs behave can be out of my control. To mitigate this I take every precaution in controlling the dogs under my care when introducing them to other dogs entering the park. It's not something I find concerning as I'm accustomed to reading a dog's body language, there is a separate enclosure, and owners tend to be very respectful. The park I go to is a gated field so I will be able to see the dogs at all times. My boy Oscar will be there with me on each trip so there will always be a companion to romp around with. I keep treats in the car for training purposes, and also carry a chuck it with me but I've not had to use it much with how much fun the dogs have! What I'm offering is an enrichment activity for socialization and to help get a dog's energy out in the morning. It's an activity Oscar loves and is often passed out on the couch when he's home.

Information Esther C. would like to know about your pet

The only way for me to prevent issues is for me to be aware of tendencies beforehand. Like children dogs often have unique quirks about them. Since my services will involve multiple animals I cannot take un-neutered dogs. Pets larger than 50lbs absolutely need to be leash trained. I am not opposed to large breeds but as a small woman I cannot stop a dog that weighs as much as I do if they like chasing small animals. If there's anything you're unsure about don't hesitate to message me before committing to anything and we can talk about it!

A typical day

For day care my husband and I work from home and have our office set up in the living area where we can see our pets at all times. First thing in the mornings pets are fed and taken to the dog park for 1+ hours. Usually after the animals are happy to chill on the couch (there's even a perch for bird watching) or play with each other. There is a crate of toys, treats, and plenty of rawhides to gnaw on. At lunch time we take the dogs out for a walk around the block, and once again at night before bed. I tend to take pictures whenever the dogs are doing cute things together. I don't charge for pick up and drop off as it is actually is more convenient for me this way.
