Experienced with active/pet dogs

Pet care experience

I ran my families social dog boarding and daycare facility for 6 years before I started my career as a special education teacher. I cared for a variety of dogs young, old, special needs, variety of breed and temperaments so there is little that I'm unfamiliar with. Special feedings, medications and socialization training were all aspects of the job. I dabbled in dog grooming for a short time as well. I have three dogs myself. Both are active dogs who participate in trick training, flyball, agility, jogging, bikejoring and disc (canine frisbee). We also backpack occassionally. My Aussie is CGC certified and regularly attends work with me. Caring for dogs is a great passion of mine. I enjoy teaching them, watching them learn, playing and interacting with them in a variety of ways. I am a teacher, so during the summer, my hours and availability are very flexible.

Information Erin M. would like to know about your pet

No breed preferences. I would like to know how your typically walk your dog - what side of your body, what cues you use on walks (leave it, walk nice, etc.), what tools you use, how they interact with other dogs, how well they walk on a leash, etc.

A typical day

One of my favorite places to walk is Asylum Lake on Oakland Drive. If your dog likes water, there are also opportunities to play fetch on a long line in the lake. If your dog is friendly with others, they can join group walks with other dogs and my own.
