Hi! My name is Erin and I am a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a degree in Animal Science (pre-veterinary medicine) and LOVE my animal time! I have a large variety of experience including 10+ years veterinary experience as well as grooming and training experience! Taking care of animals is one of my passions and I have experience with everything from cats and dogs to zoo animals! Please let me know if you have any questions- I look forward to hearing from you! About this sitter: I have a large variety of animal experience including the following: - Started my "veterinary" career when I was 16 working at a local clinic in Cottage Grove - Worked at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary medicine all 4 years of my undergraduate career in all areas of the small animal hospital as well as at the Leatherdale Equine Center and large animal hopsital - Have a wide range of species experience from volunteer work at the Raptor Center, Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, and Como Zoo - Worked as the lead "exotic" animal veterinary nurse at my last veterinary practice due to my wide range of experience with reptiles, "pocket pets", etc. - 3+ years pet training experience - 2+ years bathing/grooming experience Why I love dog sitting I have been a dog lover (and animal lover) for my entire life. I have always had pets and started working at a horse stable (which also had dogs and cats) at the age of 11! I worked at veterinary clinics from the age of 15 until present and obtained a degree in animal science from the University of Minnesota as a result of my passion for animals. As it turns out, I LOVE surgery and working with people as well- so I have chosen a career path outside of veterinary medicine so I can more easily specialize... because of this I would LOVE to sit your pet so I can get my "animal fix" in! I currently have a horse (boarded, no room in my back yard!) and 2 huskies named Khiya and Kain! My experience administering medication Extremely. Given all of my veterinary experience I am very comfortable giving medications, even to those pets who are not the best about taking their medication. I am comfortable with PO (by mouth) medications as well as injection (subcu, IM, IV). Due to my veterinary experience I am also comfortable doing things such as obtaining blood glucose samples from our diabetic four-legged friends.

Everyone has their breed preferences, but I've worked with just about every breed- and I haven't found a dog I can't work with. Not to mention, I have a husky, which some people (especially those in the veterinary or grooming fields) would argue is not the "most well behaved" breed out there. I like to know basic things about your pet before I sit them: do they have certain routines, what is their "normal" personality like, do they have any fears/anxiety, do they have any medical problems...etc. I don't need a huge in-depth analysis, but I like enough so that it would be easy for me to notice if there was something abnormal or wrong with your pet, as well as being prepared for "scary" things like thunderstorms :)
A typical day
Time I'll spend with your dog: As much time as you need. Every pet owner has different expectations than another. I am comfortable spending as much time with your pet as you think he/she needs. I will also be honest with you if I do not think I can make the time arrangements with your pet and ask you to find a different sitter because I do not want your pet getting less attention than you feel that they need while you are away. I do work some during the week so round-the-clock monitoring is not a service I often provide. Extra house-sitting services Just about every person I have worked with when pet sitting has required that I bring in the mail, water plants, etc. I have NO problem doing this what-so-ever... it would make NO sense for me to be stopping by/staying at your house without doing so if you are out of town.
