Certified dog trainer, foster mom

Pet care experience

I’m a Certified Professional Dog Trainer through CCPDT and love working with a variety of personalities, ages and breeds! Boxers hold a special place in my heart, as do staffies, mini poodles, and supermutt street dogs. My husband Patrick and I rescued our boxer mix, Finnie, in 2017 and together we have fostered more than 30 dogs with a local rescue since 2018, of all sizes, ages and breeds. In 2020 I ran the rescue’s adoptions department, then took over managing the care of behavior cases, and in 2021 I started working professionally in a dog daycare and training facility. Through my rescue work, I’ve seen all sorts of medical cases and am comfortable dealing with special needs. As a trainer I love figuring out what motivates your dog and teaching them new skills! I hope to send your dog home to you a little better behaved than they were when they arrived :) I have a flexible schedule, and most mornings will come and go as needed to walk and train dogs outside of the home. Meanwhile, my husband works from home so dogs boarding with us while I’m seeing clients will hang out in the office with him, and always have company during the work week! We dedicate our evenings to long walks to the park, playtime and enrichment. Together we keep every dog in our house exercised, socialized, and happy! Our home is your dog’s home! Your dog will have human and canine company, and free access to our living space throughout the day, with a small yard for sunbathing and several daily walks, including a longer evening visit to the park. We can accommodate a dog crate but will not crate your dog if they can be trusted to sleep on the couch. :) Due to my own dog’s traumatic past, I unfortunately cannot accommodate male dogs larger than 50lbs or intact males of any size for boarding or daycare.

Our dog has only stayed with family so we were very nervous to have him stay with a new sitter for an upcoming trip. From the onset Emma was very communicative and asked lots of great questions to get to know our dog. We did a meet-and-greet with her pup Finnie (who is also the sweetest!) and scheduled a trial boarding. Emma sent lots of photo and text updates and during pick-up gave us a great summary of how the boarding went. We look forward to continue working on getting our dog comfortable in new spaces and are so glad we found Emma! She has a wealth of knowledge and is so kind! Thank you, Emma.

Information Emma C. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your dog has specific triggers or fears and if there are any problem behaviors you are working on, and if they have any food allergies/sensitivities. Since my yard is small, the majority of their exercise will be on leash, so it’s also helpful for me to know ahead of time how they do on walks so that I can plan my routes accordingly.

A typical day

Let me know if there are skills you’d like me to work on with your dog! We will regularly take walks around the neighborhood, walk to Morley Field, and play enrichment games!
