Pet care experience

I have 5 different ways in which I am set apart from other sitters. 1. Experience and Expertise: I have extensive experience working with a wide range of animals, including various breeds and temperaments, which may offer more valuable insights and expertise. 2. Specialized Experience: This includes both puppy and senior pet care as well as administration of medications/injections. 3. My Personalized Approach: Every pet is unique and has individual needs. I take the time to get to know your pet's personality, preferences, and any specific requirements. I tailor pet care and interactions accordingly, ensuring that each pet receives personalized attention and a comfortable experience. 4. Clear Communication and Updates: Clear and regular communication between you and I is extremely important to me. I keep all owners informed about their pet's well-being, sending updates, photos, or videos during their visits or stays. This level of communication helps build trust and hopefully will provide peace of mind for you. 5. Trustworthiness and Reliability: I arrive at our scheduled time, I follow the agreed-upon schedule and instructions, and take responsibility for the pets' safety and welfare. I make it a priority to build a strong reputation for dependability and trustworthiness.

Emily was fantastic! She is obviously very experienced taking care of fur babies! She knew exactly what to do when she couldn’t get a hold of me. I don’t just trust anyone with Buddy! He is almost 17 and I have had him since 2 months old! We will be rebooking! And recommending!

Emily does a wonderful job with our anxious senior dog Ella Mae. Emily sends regular updates, is easy to work with, and always does a stellar job. She even went above and beyond and brought in some packages from our porch for us while we were away when she was checking in on our dog! Highly recommend her for anyone booking through Rover.

Safety, trust & environment

During drop-in visits, a day and a time will be pre-arranged to check on your pets. I usually spend around 30 minutes to an hour with your pets depending on their needs. During the visit, I provide them with food and water, cleaning litter boxes or cages, administering medication if required, and engaging in play or exercise. This time also allows me to offer companionship and give your pets some attention. House sitting involves a pet care provider, such as myself, staying at your home while you're away. This service ensures that your pets have constant care and supervision in the familiar environment of their own home. I will follow your pet's routine, including feeding, exercise, and playtime. I can also do additional tasks for you, such as bringing in the mail, watering plants, and maintaining home security upon request. When it comes to dog walking, I take your dogs out for regular walks to provide them with exercise, mental stimulation, and a chance to relieve themselves. I typically take your dogs on predetermined routes and tailor the walk to suit your dog's breed, age, and energy level. I provide one-on-one attention and may also offer basic training reinforcement during the walk. In all of these services, it's important to communicate your pet's specific needs, routines, and any medical requirements. This ensures that I can provide the best possible care and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for your pets while you're away.

Information Emily W. would like to know about your pet

As a pet sitter, it's my duty to gather essential information about all pets ahead of time to ensure their well-being, safety, and a positive pet sitting experience. Here are some key pieces of information that are important for me to know (but I will also ask for regardless): Basic Information: Pet's name, breed, age, gender, and any distinctive physical features for identifying purposes. I can usually find this information on each pet's Rover profile. Health and Medical History: I ask about each pets' current health status, including any known medical conditions, allergies, dietary restrictions, or medications they require. It's crucial for me to have emergency contact information for the dog's veterinarian and other emergency contacts in case of any health-related concerns during my visit. Vaccination and Flea/Tick Prevention: It is very important for your pets to be up to date on vaccinations, including rabies, distemper, and others as recommended by your veterinarian. I would prefer to be informed of the flea and tick prevention methods used to ensure your pets are protected from parasites. Behavior and Temperament: Understanding a dog's behavior and temperament is crucial for me providing appropriate care. I will ask about their general demeanor, any anxiety triggers, fears, or aggressive tendencies. This information helps ensure that I can create a safe and comfortable environment and tailor their interactions accordingly. Exercise and Activity Needs: I want to know your pet's exercise requirements, energy level, and preferred activities. Understanding their exercise needs helps me plan appropriate physical activities and playtime to keep them mentally and physically stimulated. Feeding and Dietary Preferences: I need to know your pet's usual feeding schedule, portion sizes, and any specific dietary preferences or restrictions. This ensures that I can maintain consistency in their feeding routine and provide appropriate meals or treats. Training and Commands: Ask about the dog's level of training, obedience commands they are familiar with, and any ongoing training programs. This helps the pet sitter maintain consistency in training methods and reinforce any desired behaviors. Emergency Contacts: I require emergency vet contact information, as well as a backup emergency contacts, in case you, the pet owner, cannot be reached. Having multiple contact options ensures prompt communication in case of any unforeseen circumstances. Daily Routine: I want to know your pet's daily routine, including sleeping habits, preferred walking times, and any specific rituals or cues they are accustomed to. Maintaining the dog's regular routine as much as possible helps provide a sense of familiarity and comfort during my visit.

A typical day

There are a few activities that I like to do during walks. They are as follows: Outdoor adventures - Taking dogs on outdoor adventures can be exciting and enriching. This may include hiking trails, exploring parks, or playing in open fields. These activities provide dogs with opportunities for exercise, mental stimulation, and exposure to new environments. Interactive Playtime - Engaging in interactive playtime with dogs is both fun and beneficial. This can involve playing fetch, tug-of-war, or interactive puzzle toys that challenge their problem-solving skills. I do my best to choose activities that align with the dog's age, breed, and energy level. Dog Park Visits - If the dogs are social and enjoy the company of other canines, a trip to a local dog park can be a great option. Dog parks provide a safe and controlled environment for dogs to socialize, play off-leash, and interact with other dogs. Training and Trick Practice - Incorporating training sessions into the routine can be mentally stimulating for dogs. Reinforcing basic obedience commands, teaching new tricks, or practicing agility exercises can help keep their minds sharp and strengthen the bond between the dog and myself. Relaxation and Cuddling: Not all activities have to necessarily be high-energy. Pets also enjoy relaxing. I like providing a cozy and comfortable space for the pets to rest while getting lots of love and attention. When it comes to walks, I try to choose parks with walking trails, quiet neighborhoods with sidewalks, or areas with dog-friendly amenities. However, the specific places for walks should be determined based on your dog's needs, safety considerations, and any guidelines provided by you. It's always important to communicate your dog's preferences, physical limitations, and any specific instructions to me so I can tailor the activities and walks to suit your pet's individual needs and ensure their safety and enjoyment.
