Experienced Veterinary Technician

Pet care experience

I am a former medical professional in the veterinary industry. I was a Veterinary Technician for 2 years in a hospital that was caring for 50-100 clients a day. I often pet sit those who have special needs. I have experience socializing cats and horses after traumatic experiences and I rode and took care of horses for about a decade. I can give medications orally, intravenous (IV) injections, intramuscular injections (in the muscle) and subcutaneous (under the skin) injections. Please contact me for more information about this subject if needed. After working in animal hospitals, I decided to change careers for a better quality of life. I have been a software developer for about three years now. Since I am not at the hospital all day, I need some way to see all my fluffy friends! When your pet is in my care, I will treat them with patience, respect and understanding. I’m capable of adjusting to the needs of multiple different pets.

Emily took great care of our two dogs and cat with very short notice. The pets were all happy with her, the house was very clean and I would recommend Emily to anyone needing her to look after their pets.

Emily has been such a wonderful asset to our family!! I have two dogs that she walks and takes care of daily. My girls get so excited when she gets to the house as they know they will be loved on and walked!! I have a 75lb German Shepherd mix who can sometimes be a butt to walk, but Emily has complete control! My 55lb Australian Shepherd/Pit mix is terrified of everything and Emily has such patience and understanding with her! I highly recommend Emily to any family in need!!

Emily is a friendly, responsible animal lover. She goes the extra mile and always sends cute pictures of my kitties. I feel totally comfortable leaving my cats in her care.

I always keep leashes on when going outside. I make sure to secure the leash around my wrist as well. I stay informed of all of the pets medical needs. I always request veterinarian information. I do short walks or runs when it is hot outside. I don’t bring the pets anywhere that could be hazardous.

Information Emily R. would like to know about your pet

thank -Dietary restrictions, injuries, medications and disabilities and diseases or illness. -I would prefer to have the contact information of your veterinarian office. -I require the best emergency contact numbers for you or your family. This is important but not required, please read: If you would like your dog to be outdoors and in places like dog parks, I would ask that they have the Leptospirosis vaccine and be vaccinated for Kennel Cough. There are multiple bacteria’s that cause kennel cough, so it would just be best to ask your veterinarian what vaccines they carry. The most common vaccine for Kennel Cough is the the bordetella vaccine. Kennel cough is a virus that attacks the upper respiratory system. It can be cured easily but is highly contagious. It can NOT be spread to humans. Leptospirosis is a zoonotic (can be passed to humans) blood infection that is spread to humans and dogs through animal urine, or water and soil contaminated with animal urine (wildlife such as raccoons or rodents). It usually is in bodies of water such as lakes or rivers. This disease can cause kidney and liver failure. Please keep your pet up to date on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. I can administer these as needed.

A typical day

I really enjoy running in my free time. I look forward to taking pets out for long runs so they can feel more relaxed by the end of the day. When I am house sitting, I am a professional snuggler.
