We're home 24/7 with your pup! 🐶

Pet care experience

Hi, nice to meet you :) We are Emily and Mark and live in a two-storey, 3000 sq ft home along with our resident senior and hospice pups, Molly (8 years), April (10 years), Poppins (hospice), Daisy (5). We are NOT YOUR AVERAGE dog sitters. Why? Because we provide constant care to your pup when they're booked to stay with us. What does this mean? It means that we arrange our schedules around your pup and are home 24/7 for the duration of their stay (if we run errands, one of us will be home or we will take the pups with us). This is rare because other sitters will provide other services to their client base such as dog walking, drop-ins, etc - but for us, we are home with your pup the whole time they're with us. For this reason, we focus all our heart and energy into providing boarding services only. We live in a very quiet and safe neighbourhood in Novato. We are on the edge of a 500+ acre nature preserve. We’re the right fit for you and your dog if you are… ⭐Looking for a spacious home environment with exceptional standards of care ⭐Wanting a clean, sanitised and safe space for your dog - with daily 'housekeeping' (daily washing of bowls, daily change of blankets/bedding, daily vacuum, wiping muddy/sandy paws, etc!). For stays of more than 2 weeks, we have a professional team of housekeepers that come in to clean and sanitise our home! ⭐Intentional about making sure your dog is not surrounded by an overwhelming number of other dogs or kept in a kennel all day ⭐Aware that your dog enjoys being indoors in a quiet environment, lots of natural sunlight and cuddles ⭐Looking for people who truly love dogs and want to provide the best possible experience and care for them Other than the Rover Guarantee and 24/7 support by the Rover Team when you book us on this platform. 𝗔 𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗟𝗘 𝗕𝗜𝗧 𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗨𝗦 Emily is the Founder and Executive Director of an award-winning non-profit organisation serving vulnerable children and youth in Singapore and also supports other community leaders and founders make meaningful change in their communities. She is a professional caregiver to communities - and now to dogs! Mark works for a global commercial real estate organisation. Emily and Mark practically work from home full-time now and love having sweet fluffy friends to care for throughout the week! 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗢𝗙 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗘: We provide care from the heart. What does this mean? When your dog comes to stay with us, they are not simply left in the yard on their own or amongst a large pack of other dogs - they are part of our family unit and will be treated with individual care. We pride ourselves in creating a loving and exceptional home environment for your dog from the moment they walk through our doors. We provide daily ‘housekeeping’ which includes changing out their ‘bedding’ each day, sanitised and daily clean of their bowls, water refills throughout the day and vacuuming of carpets and flooring. Those are just a few examples that demonstrate how we go above and beyond. Prior or during a Meet and Greet, we will go over a list of standard questions to assess the type of care your dog needs (dietary, special needs, medications, schedules, support, etc) and whether we’re the best fit for them to truly feel at home. For owners who are feeling anxious with leaving your pups in our care (we've been in your shoes before, too!), we provide regular photo updates throughout their stay to all our clients no matter how many times they've had their dogs cared for by us and can answer any questions or address any concerns you may have. 𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗗-𝟭𝟵 𝗦𝗔𝗙𝗘𝗧𝗬 😷 For Meet and Greets, please let us know if you’d like us to wear masks. We only do these outside in our driveway 🚿 We wash/sanitise dog blankets daily 💧We provide clean and sanitised dog bowls and regularly refill fresh water bowls 🧻 If your dog is crate trained, we clear our pee pads throughout the day 🧹We steam clean our carpets, vacuum and clean floors regularly 💉 We are both fully vaccinated 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧 𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗘𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗘𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗖𝗘𝗗𝗨𝗥𝗘𝗦 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗣𝗨𝗣𝗦 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗘 🐶 Please click 'CONTACT SITTER’ to check your dates as sometimes the Rover Calendar has a glitch and doesn't display when I am available. Best thing is to drop me a note :) 🐶 Puppy and High-energy: Due to our home having senior and special needs and hospice pups, we can’t have puppies or dogs with high energy out of an abundance of caution. 🐶Day Care Hours: Rover's Doggy Day Care is per day and approximately 8 hours. 🐶 We are currently open to welcoming dogs up to 70 pounds in weight (the Rover platform doesn't allow us to customise the weight range we're suited for!) but can discuss if your dog is larger than this as we currently have a small senior dog at home and also care for other smaller breeds. 🐶 Please ensure your dog is up to date on vaccinations and flea/tick remedies as we live surrounded by lots of nature and want to ensure the health and well-being of all dogs under our care. We will ask for a screenshot/photo of their vaccination records upon confirmation of a booking. If they need to have flea/tick applied during their stay, please let us know. 🐶We appreciate you planning ahead of time to schedule a Meet and Greet and, where possible, a trial stay, so that your dog has plenty of time to adjust to our home environment. We know this isn't always possible with last minute work travel, change of plans or when driving up from other areas of the country - we are able to conduct Virtual Meet and Greets on ZOOM if you are not from the area. 🐶We DO NOT accept aggressive dogs or any dogs that do not get along with other dogs as we have our own resident dogs and we also provide care throughout the year to other dogs who may be smaller in size and senior in age. We want to ensure that our home is comfortable, caring and above all....SAFE for your dogs as well as for those who they'll be spending lots of time with! We do not provide care for any aggressive dogs, including leash reactive, because of the risk it presents to other dogs in our neighbourhood as well as to our own and other boarding guests. We are unable to care for dogs with extreme separation anxiety that presents destructive behaviour/barking or constant care and soothing as it takes away from the care we can provide for other pups. 🐶Because we have senior dogs in our home (boarding guests and residents) who are more sensitive and fragile, we are intentional about ensuring dogs who are under the age of 2 years old are able to integrate well into the home along with the other pups we care for due to their puppy-like nature and energy. 🐶Trial Daycare for new clients: All new pups who are interested in overnight or daycare services must agree to a trial half-day daycare (discounted rate) at a date/time agreed upon by both parties. This is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pups - including yours - during their duration of the intended stay. 🐶Meet and Greets: There is no cost to a Meet and Greet except your time. All pups wanting daycare or overnight stays with us must attend an in-person Meet and Greet. A Meet and Greet is mandatory prior to booking so that we can meet your pup and hear more about how you care for them. The meeting is also a way for you to meet us (usually Emily) and see the neighbourhood in which your dog will stay and how they get along with us. At this time, we do not do any walk-throughs through our home but meet in the driveway. We provide photos of our home on our profile and can do a virtual walkthrough . A meet and greet is a wonderful way for your dog to get a sense of the new surroundings and lower their anxiety when they are dropped off for their stay with us. 🐶Rates and Fees: Our rates are displayed on our Rover profile. Boarding is per 24 hour. If you drop off the dog at 9:00AM but pick the dog up at 5:00PM, the Rover platform will add an extended care rate to your overall billing. Please be truthful and transparent about our drop-off and pick-up times as we organise our schedule to welcome your pup and make sure there’s a smooth drop-off and pick-up experience. Please let me know at least one day before your drop-off and pick-up if there are any changes to the timings you had originally stated - we try our best to be flexible with all our clients. Payments need to be made via Rover - it is Terms of Service of you being on the app. Rover provides their ‘Rover Stay Guarantee’, a form of insurance, for your pup during their stay.
There are different fees for holidays. Drop-off and Pick-up: Earliest drop-off time is 8:00AM (please reach out if you have a different time due to travel) Latest pick-up is at 7:30PM *Of course, this is always discussed during our Meet and Greet or in our communications with you. We are flexible and understanding! 🐶 Cancellation: We have a 7-day cancellation policy that is enforced by the Rover platform. Please refer to the platform terms of this policy for more information. In case of extenuating circumstances, a full refund may be offered at the discretion of the Rover support team. We do not control the cancellation policies or terms of service. 🐶 Covid Protection We do our utmost best to keep all our pups safe - including yours - for the duration of their stay. From daily vacuuming, mopping and cleaning of surfaces through changing out blankets and food bowls on a daily basis. If the weather is not too warm or too cold, we will open windows to air out the property. Should either Mark or myself test positive for Covid, we will inform clients ahead of the stay so that a decision can be made to determine whether the pups should still stay with us (depending on severity of illness). We are both vaccinated, wear masks when outside running errands (limited errands!) and stay home as much as possible. We also regularly steam clean carpets and do steam spot cleaning in areas where a pup may have had a potty accident. 🐶 Vaccinations Please ensure your dog is up to date on vaccinations and flea/tick remedies as we live surrounded by lots of nature and want to ensure the health and well-being of all dogs under our care. We will ask for a screenshot/photo of their vaccination records upon confirmation of a booking. If they need to have flea/tick applied during their stay, please let us know. 🐶 Collars and Harnesses All pups dropped off MUST have a collar with updated ID and contact information on the tag. This is essential! For pups who tend to pull on the leash, harnesses must be included during drop-off. Leash pulling is potentially dangerous to your dog and for us - both on their neck and on our shoulders/back, etc. Emily has fibromyalgia so a harness is a huge help when we go out for longer walks. 🐶What to bring Dog Bed or Blanket (we have a few spares but encourage you to bring their own so that it smells of home and reduces anxiety if they haven’t stayed with us before) Medicine/Supplements and Flea or Tick if it’s required to be applied during their stay 🐶 Emergency Situations If you are traveling, please provide us with another name and contact should you be uncontactable. Please also ensure your veterinary information is up to date. In emergency situations, we will bring your pup to the closest veterinary hospital located to us and will loop your vet with the medical team. 🐶 Damage to Property If your pup presents destructive behaviour or has damaged property in some way, there will be an extra charge applied to stay depending on the price of replacement or fixing. 🐶 Communications We do our best to respond to your messages throughout the day and will provide photos throughout the duration of their stay as well. I am mindful of bedtimes and will not text past 10:00PM unless there’s an emergency.

Mark and Emily went above and beyond to care for our dog. We got multiple updates and photos per day. We have a high maintenance dog and Emily and Mark handled everything with care and professionalism. They are well versed in doggy body language and will make sure your dog is happy and healthy throughout their stay. I’d highly recommend them to anyone.

Emily and Mark are simply the best! They welcome our pup with open arms and he definitely feels at home with them. We get lovely updates and photos whenever they keep Winston and always send him home happy and healthy. They are lovely, thoughtful and caring towards all animals, both their own dogs and those in their care. Winston looks forward to every stay with them! thank you Emily and Mark!!

If I could leave more than 5 stars, I would! Emily and Mark took great care of our Mini Schnauzer. He has to adhere to a very specific diet, and Emily and Mark were very thorough about understanding his needs, personality, activity preferences, etc. They also shared so many great photos during his stay. We would absolutely book with them again.

Emily and Mark took amazing care of our dog, Bennie! He went on several walks and adventures, got to lounge inside and get pets, and was nice and tired at the end of the day. We received regular photo updates of his day’s activities. Highly recommend!

Safety, trust & environment

𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗛𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗘𝗡𝗩𝗜𝗥𝗢𝗡𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 We do not have a backyard (we're on a hill!) but we do take safety, trust and environment seriously. Before our front doors are opened, your dog will be leashed and while on walks, their leash will be connected to our waist strap for added security. We have the ability to separate our home because we have a senior rescue dog (who behaves more like a cat) and she likes her own space and is rather fragile. You're welcome to bring a playpen, crate and your dogs bedding for us if you feel your dog is more of an introvert and needs their time and space. Our home is a double storey, four bedroom home with plenty of room and space to roam around. We currently take up 1 dog for boarding in addition to our own resident pups who are senior and hospice dogs that we welcome and love on before they let us know it's time to cross the rainbow bridge. We adopt hospice dogs from shelters and rescue organisations. During fire season, we shorten walks due to the poor air quality that may affect or irritate the dogs eyes, nose, etc. For health emergencies, we are located near various Pet Emergency Hospitals such as the Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin which is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.
