Let's go on an adventure!
Pet care experience
I've owned dogs my entire life. I started 'training' the family dog from a young age. Later, I worked raising puppies to become service dogs for 3 years. Most of my dogs have been standard poodles so I am comfortable with the daily maintenance of pets with higher grooming needs. I also grew up around cats and am comfortable adapting to their sometimes persnickety personalities. I would be happy to learn about your non-dog/cat pet (I have worked with baboons, mice, and even leeches!! in the past); as long as they are non-venomous I'd love to meet them.
Reviews
As always, our dog was super well cared for!
Emily is a repeat sitter --she hadn't been by in a bit and carefully checked/asked questions about changes in my older cat's meds!
Our senior dog came home happy and healthy after her second stay with Emily. We also looked forward to the photos and amusing comments each day. Peace of mind is everything. Thank you Emily.
Great service!! Sent lots of pictures which i enjoyed. Def Recommended

I live with my heinz57 cat, Summer, who loves to investigate new visitors but sometimes chooses to retire to the secure basement when they they are too energetic. My yard is not fenced but the Watson UV dog park is just a few minutes drive away for off-leash energy busting. I'm a big fan of packing everyone up and heading out for a long leashed walk on one of the many local hiking trails! Because I have pets, my home is already mostly animal-proof. Please let me know any peculiarities of your pet so that we can make sure everything is safe for them too! I cannot offer boarding services to any dog who is cat aggressive. Cat-chasers not desirable, but we can discuss because she does have a safe basement to hide in. Boarding dogs requires a prior meet-and-greet to make sure that we will get along well. I do have the space to separate dogs who are food aggressive, but we would need to discuss this beforehand to confirm if the behavior is reasonably manageable. Nightly brushing provided free-of-charge to those pets who adore it. Plenty of soft surfaces for hanging out: at least one large dog bed and one cat bed in every room and even a large dog couch in the living room.

Information Emily M. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know about any medications your pet is on and how well they tolerate it. Is your pup fully vaccinated and licensed? Is your dog up-to-date on flea/tick treatment? What spooks your animal or causes any aggressive reaction? Does your dog walk nicely on a leash? Does your dog do loose-leash walking?
A typical day
I love to go for hikes. We can stick to basic walks on the rail trail, maybe try out some mud in the Boston Lot, or get really adventurous and head out to Mt. Ascutney! Couch potatoes are also welcome!

Availability
I am a research scientist with a very flexible schedule (half of my work is on the computer, so I can work from home when necessary). ***IMPORTANT*** As a member of the local search and rescue team I could be called away with no prior warning. Any animals boarding with me must be able to go ≥6h without a potty break. In the (unlikely) event of a callout, I will make sure everyone has been walked, fed, and watered before leaving.
