Pet and Home Sitter Extraordinaire

Pet care experience

I grew up with a large Rhodesian Ridgeback so I enjoy mid to large sized breeds who like to run/jump/fetch/play. I'm a super active person so I'd love to take your dog along the beach path or on some of the hiking or biking trails. Dogs bring me JOY and it would be my honor to spend some quality time bonding with your furry friend. I will love and spoil them like you do-- treats, special food preparations, brushing/grooming, giving medicine, etc. Whatever your needs are I am willing to meet them. Will likely even take lots of cute "update" photos and send them to you via text so you can have piece of mind in your absence. I'm looking forward to getting to know you and your pet!

I am very sad to leave this rating as it is the first time I am leaving something other than a 5-star review. Let me start with the meet & greet. This should have been my indicator as Emily did not seem interested at all in learning about our dog's routines nor any of the nuances of our dog's needs nor of our apartment complex. In Emily's defense it was a weekend of extreme bad air in the Bay Area and our dog does require extra attention but still... We did a meet & greet where I explained the pandemic and SIP has made my dog (already a nervous Nelly) even more dependent and needy. My partner shared ideas about using our apartment courtyard but none of the ideas stuck with Emily. When Emily came for the meet & greet (in her defense a very bad Bay Area air quality weekend) it was clear that she did not really care to meet my dog nor learn about Nessa's nuances. She barely took time to figure out where our apartment was nor did she pay attention to my verbal instructions on how to get to our unit. It was almost like pulling teeth to get her to hold the leash when when we walked her back to her car. As a result she got lost (again in her defense I did not update my unit number) but called me clearly upset and distraught. After several text messages and 2 calls she found my unit but I am not sure that my dog was walked in the 36 hours I thought I had hired Emily for. Specifically, I came home home and my bathroom floor was covered in dog pee. (Sadly I have had to leave my dog for up to 14 hours and she has NEVER had an accident) so the pee on the floor makes me think my dog was never taken for an actual walk. I also never received any photo updates despite my requests for photos. Then to make matters worse I had requested an overnight stay. Because Emily's apartment is so close to mine she chose to not stay in my apartment. I was originally fine with that but... as stated earlier it was not clear that my dog got the attention she needed. Then when my flight landed I got messages that Emily was charging me an extra day! Seriously!!!! So after some back and forth with Emily (always the benefit of the doubt from my end) I called Rover to see if I misunderstood the policy. I did not! I did not owe Emily for an extra day. Emily may be a good sitter for intermittent needs and for patrons with non specific needs but... if you need anything other than very basic care please do not leave your pet with Emily.

Emily was incredible! She was so kind and flexible, more than willing to meet my needs, and had great communication. I will absolutely be using Emily to sit for my pup again!!

I won’t leave my 14 year old dachshund with very many people at this point. He’s older and takes some patience (moves slowly, etc), so I really need to feel comfortable that he will be cared for in a special way. Emily was so compassionate and made me feel like Pierre was in the best hands possible, sending me daily pictures of their adventures and text updates. I have returned in the past with other sitters and Pierre has been cold/upset with me for leaving. Not the case with Emily—he was calm, happy and obviously well cared for. Without a doubt, Emily will be my go-to sitter moving forward.

I have known Emily for over 20 years. She is a kind, responsible person who loves animals and would be a great pet sitter for Rover. I have 5 dogs, 4 cats, and lots of fish. I would trust her with all of them if only she lived in NC!
