Your Dog Will be a Part of the Pack

Pet care experience

I have had dogs all my life. In 2009, I left the corporate world and hung up my Civil Engineering career for one that was more rewarding for me. I am now a full-time dog agility instructor, and I do pet sitting on a limited, case-by-case basis in my own home, or occasionally in your home if your dog prefers. I have a wonderful husband who splits the doggie duties with me here at the house. I feed my dogs a raw diet, but am perfectly willing to feed your dog kibble if that is what he is used to. We have a decked-out DogRoom (guest room) just for our canine guests, complete with plush crate accommodations, night lights, and soothing sounds from the radio. Your dog is also welcome to stay in the bedroom with us and our dogs as long as they are perfectly house trained :) I am a 100% positive dog trainer and never use the word "No!" or harsh corrections with my dogs, or yours. Why I love dog sitting I have had dogs my entire life. I grew up in the Marine Corps, so we moved around a lot. My dog was always the one friend I knew I would always have! I had small dogs and big dogs growing up, mostly one at a time since we moved so much. I got my first dog "on my own" in college, in 2002. My Jack Russell Terrier Madison is the dog that changed everything for me! She is has now passed, but not before teaching all the other dogs in the house how to be wonderfully accepting of guests ? About my yard We have a large fenced in backyard attached to the house, complete with many mature shade trees. We sit on 3 acres, and much of the rest of the property is unfenced. We have pools, sprinklers, and fans available to all of our canine guests. My experience administering medication Yes, I am.

NEVER AGAIN...I avoided writing a review for a long period of time. I give only 1 star and would give less if I could. The reason for low score is when I came to pick up my border collie, Jamie was at a practice meet and told me my dog was in a room down the hall of the event center. When I opened the door to this room, my dog was in a small crate in the corner of what appeared to be a storage room full of boxes, chairs, etc. My dog was located in a crate, in the far corner, and the crate was piled with boxes on top. As though my dog had been abandoned and isolated and for HOW LONG in this dark, room, crated with boxes stacked on top of the crate? I felt like my dog had been abandoned (while paid) and I had no idea of how long (all morning and afternoon?). I NEVER rebooked and only gave this review because Rover.com keeps popping her face up to rebppk. NO, NEVER!

We never heard from Emily after we dropped our dog off, even when we called her and sent her a message.

Let me say that choosing Emily to take care of my dog was absolutely the BEST DECISION I made in 2016. My decision to travel out of town during the holidays was made at the last minute. This was my first time leaving my best friend in the hands of someone my dog wasn't familiar with. If Emily and her wonderful husband will have Oliver back, they are the ones I want to take care of my best fur friend from now on. When I got back you could tell he didn't want to leave her house. Her home and space for dogs is fantastic. Emily sent amazing photos of Oliver having a wonderful time while I was away and my entire family loved the pictures. Emily is a dedicated care taker of dogs which can easily be seen from all the photos that are posted. I truly intend to recommend all of my dog owner friends to contact Emily to take care of their dogs if she is available. I'd like to do a longer international trip this year. Knowing that Emily might be available puts my mind at ease. Thanks again Emily for doing such an amazing job.

Information Emily H. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know the dog's training history. The most important thing I want to know is if the dog is housetrained! I keep the dogs in my home and while we have wood floors, there are rugs and I like to keep my house fresh and clean.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks We take our dogs off the beaten path. Never on concrete (so bad for joints!). We go to various places with nice shady trails, places where we don't run into many other people. We like the walks to be relaxing for us and for the dogs. If your dog prefers city walks, we can accommodate them in the neighborhood next to our property. Your dog's sleeping arrangement It depends on where your dog's used to sleeping. I have no problem having dogs sleep in my bedroom as long as they're clean and potty trained. Otherwise I have a very well-equipped DogRoom with crates, plush bedding, toys, water, treats, and soothing sounds to keep your puppy happy. Time I'll spend with your dog I spend all day every day with the dogs. I teach training classes on my property, so many days don't even leave home! Dogs are my 24/7 occupation!
