Only the best for your pet!
Pet care experience
I've been caring for dogs since I was four. I am comfortable working with pets of all shapes in sizes. I have fostered several adult cats, as well as several puppies and senior dogs (I have a special place in my heart for seniors, my Bishon lived to be 17!). I have a dog of my own who is 3 years old and about 65 pounds. I raised and trained him and his sister as fosters from the age of 6 weeks, and I adopted him later on. He is happy to be around dogs of all ages and sizes as well as cats! Dawson spent the majority of his puppyhood with my mother's 8 pound Havanese, so he knows how to be gentle with small dogs. I have worked with reactive dogs as well, and feel comfortable caring for them. I am well versed in canine body language and behavior, (especially when they are showing signs of being nervous/fearful), and can safely de-escalate fights if needed. When working with reactive dogs, my main goal is to keep them safe and away from any potential stressors/triggers. I believe that positive reinforcement is the best tool for training, and I do not use punishment (spray bottles, hitting, yelling, etc.) as a technique for training dogs. I will only use a silent, high pitched, dog whistle occasionally for barking training or fight de-escalation.
Reviews
Emily is such a treasure. My pets have some very specific boundaries and she was so, so understanding of those. I received updates and never once worried about them while I was away. Add that my girls absolutely ADORE her. Emily is a natural with animals and I will 100% be a repeat client! ♥️
Emily was wonderful, always gave me a detailed update on how Penny was and cute videos of the puppies all playing together.
Emily did great with my dog! Very thorough and provides updates
Emily as always was wonderful and Rusty had a great time.

I live at an apartment complex so I frequently take my dog to the dog park at the property. I will only allow a client's dog to play with others if I have the client's permission and I feel that the playmate is safe. I also go on long walks frequently. I live by a large cow field so it is nice scenery for a dog walk. I like to let dogs take their time and sniff for enrichment as well. In my home, dogs are permitted to be anywhere, including the furniture. I will crate dogs when I am not home if their owner requests it, but other than that they are free to roam the apartment. I do not feed table food, and will only feed natural treats such as dehydrated chicken or dried sweet potato.
Information Emily H. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your pet has any special medical or behavioral needs. I'm an experienced foster so I've worked with a range of pets with different needs (separation anxiety, mobility issues, etc.). Because I have a dog of my own, unfortunately I cannot watch reactive dogs or those with a history of dog aggresion. If they're simply not into playing with other dogs due to age or just lack of interest, that's totally fine. My dog knows to leave them alone if they show no interest.
A typical day
A typical day includes lots of walks and playing. I like to take my clients on adventures to local trails around Gainesville if the weather is good as well. If it's a rainy day, I have lots of enrichment activities and toys to keep them busy.
