The One Where Emily Walks Dogs
Pet care experience
Hey folks! I'm Emily and I'm that person that will stop anybody with an adorable pooch on the street, ask them how old, what breed, and what not before turning to my boyfriend and saying, "I want that one. You should buy me that one." (If you can't tell by my photos, I am now a proud puppy/kitty momma of three. My boyfriend hates me now.) I had dogs for most of my life, two dachshunds to be more precise. They were two of the sweetest, loudest, most loving, best first dogs a girl could ask for growing up. They taught me responsibility and loyalty to someone other than myself and I hold those two lessons very close to my heart. Unfortunately, they passed away within a few months of each other in my junior year in college, but I miss them dearly. As you can see by my many (too many) photos, I have three furry creatures of my own. One of them is a super friendly (but will still gut you if she needs to) kitty name Mokey. She's basically just 8 lbs. of pure fur and cuteness. The next is Louie, a babe of a mutt, who we think is part beagle/part chihuahua; I like to describe him as a sausage with four toothpicks sticking out of it and a dog head attached up top. The last is the newest addition to the gang and her name is Maggie. She's a shepherd mix, with beautiful two-colored eyes, a spotted tongue and a WHOLE bunch of energy. Not to mention my dad has two labradoodles, Rex and Ranger, who are fluffy messes and the biggest cuddle bugs. Along with my own furry friends, I work at a pet store! We work directly with a shelter, who gives homes to so many pups and kitties. We walk them, feed them, monitor any health changes, any changes in behavior, watch how they interact with other animals, and get to play with them a little too. I've taken care of everything from 80 pound pit bulls to 3 month old coonhound mixes; I've seen it all. Working with shelter dogs has given me firsthand knowledge on how to handle pretty much any kind of animal, no matter the temperament. It's hard sometimes, to be around so many pups and not take them all home, but I know in the end that they're going to amazing homes and are going to finally have the life they so desperately deserve. If you would like to know anything else about me, feel free to shoot me a message! I look forward to meeting you and your furry creatures very soon.

I really don't have any breed preferences, no, but I'd love to know a little bit about their temperament. Can I bring them up to other dogs to say hello? Are they still learning to walk on a harness? Do I need to bring treats along to reward them for good behavior if they are still learning? I just want to keep the dog happy and healthy so that they stay on track with their owners.
A typical day
Everything would need to be okay'd by the owner first, but anywhere AND everywhere. I'd love to take them to the park on really nice days or walk them by the water if it's near their home. I'll play fetch with them and give them all the snuggles. Rubbing bellies is somewhat of a specialty of mine.
