Experienced & Flexible!

Pet care experience

Hi, I'm Emily! I am a seasoned foster pet mom and worked for a pet care service for several years, caring for pets ranging from enormous St. Bernards to feisty kittens. I am comfortable administering medications, and have worked with older pets who need specialized attention. I am aware of specific breed needs, and love getting to know the individual personalities and quirks of each pet while providing a loving, safe, and fun presence. I am new to D.C, and live in Park View working as a healthcare professional where I work from home on Fridays, and in office Mondays-Thursdays. I live in an apartment which has no pets, is smoke-free, and child-free. I have repeat clients from several years now and love making those connections! Please note I only board one pet at a time for safety, unless they are pets from the same household, and I require a meet and greet for dogs so everyone feels its a good fit, especially your pup! I am also an experienced house sitter, and love to leave homes and pets in great hands. Please take into account if your pup can be on their own for a few hours if your requested dates are on dates I am in office (and able to come home for lunch for a quick break!) Clients always receive multiple pictures (if my picture rate is not 100, it is because I sent them to the owners personal number, not through the Rover app) and updates of how their pet is doing. Please reach out with any questions and I am always happy to go over your needs!

Emily was wonderful with our dog and two cats. She was incredibly attentive, responsive, considerate and caring. Heidi, Burt and Oscar all had a great time hanging out with her and we felt total peace of mind knowing our crew was fully taken care of while we were away.

We hit the jackpot with Emily! Our rescue terrier mix Isla was a recent and unexpected (in terms of timing) addition to our family. She had been with us for three months, finally adjusting to her new life and family, and comfortable in her new home, so we were nervous about boarding her and how she’d do in a completely new environment. Commercial kennels are no longer an option for us due to a host of issues we’ve encountered over the years, especially now with the canine respiratory illness outbreak looming. Therefore, we set out to find a petsitter through Rover. We needed someone who knew how to care for recently adopted dogs and understood that these dogs may still have some quirks that they need to work on as they transition into their new forever home. Isla is a sweet lovebug, but she sure challenged Emily at times! Isla reverted to some of her old habits (that we had corrected through training and conditioning) during her stay with Emily, but Emily handled it with grace and infinite patience. She was very professional and provided great communication with daily updates and pictures/videos. She walked Isla multiple times a day, and took her to explore different locations and landscapes. It was evident that Isla felt happy and loved with Emily, and that put our minds at ease. We were able to actually enjoy our much needed trip without stressing and worrying. Thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication caring for our Isla, Emily.

This was my dog Stella's third time staying with Emily and Benjamin and, once again, they provided a wonderful experience for our pup and us. They are always so attentive with her, give her more playtime than she could possibly dream of, and include her in their household activities. They send pictures of Stella all throughout her stay so that we can feel like we have a piece of her with us while we are away. I couldn't possibly recommend them more and will always write a review no matter how many times she stays with them because we want the world to know just how honest and trustworthy they are. They are both also very personable and communicate frequently throughout Stella's stay, so we always feel like she is staying with a trusted friend or family member when she is with them. Once again, we had a wonderful experience! My wife and I now plan our travels around their availability because they are just that great!

Information Emily E. would like to know about your pet

It's important that I know how the dog feels most safe and comfortable. This includes behaviors, medical needs, likes and dislikes, fears and potential agitators, as well as fun activities, favorite snacks, and previous walk/boarding history. I treat pets like my own, and try to know them extremely well!

A typical day

I love letting dogs feel safe and also like they're on a little vacation; they can sniff on walks, or if requested we can work on structure or training depending on the dog. Since it can get hot, I make sure water is handy and that shade, rest, and balance are incorporated. Hikes, swimming, and parks are a favorite if appropriate!
