Life-long pet owner, love activity!

Pet care experience

COVID UPDATES I am fully vaccinated. I maintain COVID-consciousness, following all current local and CDC recommendations regarding masks and distancing where required. I can and am happy to mask upon request, particularly for meetings or pickups/dropoffs. Please alert me if you are experiencing symptoms or have tested positive - depending on circumstances, I may not cancel walks, but would likely ask clients to mask and keep distance during pickups/dropoffs. MY BACKGROUND I have lived and been pet-sitting in the Portland area for two years, and pet-sit on a part-time basis in my previous cities prior to moving here. I was a partner in a local pet-sitting company for many years in my hometown of Durham, North Carolina, until I moved across the country and began sitting through Rover. I have 10+years of experience sitting all manner of animals: dogs (big and small), cats, fish, birds, chickens, sheep, horses, lizards, rodents. I myself am also a life-long pet owner of many dogs, cats, fish, reptiles/amphibians, and Rodentia. MY PRACTICES & TRAINING I enjoy exercising with dogs - especially hiking, long walks, and jogging - and am perfectly happy to play in-house with cats, puppies, senior, and heat- or weather-sensitive dogs. I have been trained in canine and feline CPR and general emergency response. I have experience administering oral and physically applied medication, as well as experience caring for senior animals, dogs/cats in declining health, and dogs/cats with special health or care needs (frequent walks, needing help up stairs, being kept away from other dogs, etc.). I have extensive experience with shy and reactive animals; for particularly leash-reactive dogs, I ask that owners accompany me on a short walk prior to the first walk so that I may see the reactivity with you present, as well as your preferred handling of reactive situations so that I may best adhere to your pet's routines for everyone's greatest safety & security. I have completed quite a bit of canine training with my own pets as well as clients (if you're interested, I'm happy to talk about my background in training service animals!); I am happy to go over your preferred training methods and/or particular training issues you'd like me to work on while your pet is in my care (or if you'd like me to work with them on some tricks, I'm happy to spend some time working with them!). TYPES OF BOOKINGS / USING ROVER DOG WALKING General-purpose booking for any dog that specifically needs to be walked. Water and lots of loving is always included; feedings & play-time can be included upon request. A "Report Card" will be sent after each walk (in which I always include pictures), detailing water/food given, bathroom stops, and even including a map of the walk. I do not walk multiple clients at once without explicit permission from both owners, as well as a neutral introduction between dogs. Rates: Rate: [30 minutes through 1 hour: $30] [1+ hour(s): $50]* DROP-IN VISITS Generally used for any non-canine pet (cats, fish, rodentia, reptiles, etc.), or un-vaccinated puppies, senior dogs, or other special-needs canines. Drop-in visits may include a walk at the owner's request (at no additional charge), but usually consist of feedings and waterings, in-house play-time, medication application, and other daily routine and care items as the owner sees fit to request. Please do not simply book a drop-in visit instead of a walk because of the price difference -- there are different levels of care and safety precautions that differentiate these two types of bookings and their subsequent rates. Rate: [30 minutes through 1 hour: $25] [1+ hour(s): $50] [12+: See House-Sitting]* HOUSE-SITTING **CURRENTLY INACTIVE** *Please note that I must be selective about house-sitting based upon location -- I always try to keep my house-sitting clients close to the majority of my walking and drop-in's so that I may be most central to your pet(s).* Full-time, all-day, overnight care of your pets and home while you are out of town or otherwise indisposed. I will stay in your home (having been raised in the South, I do so solemnly swear upon my grandmama's grave to show you the best house-guest manners this side of the Mississippi), taking care of your pet and your living space in accordance with your regular routine and wishes. The stay price includes ALL daily walks at any length and frequency, feedings/waterings, medication applications, play-time, etc. I will never bring another animal or human into your home without your specific, express permission or in the event of an emergency. I am happy to allow any and all animals to sleep on the bed with me (maybe not fish... but I suppose one can't knock it 'til you've tried it), and I will always do my best to stick to your regular home routine with your pet(s). I do continue to take dog-walking and drop-in visits while house-sitting; if you would prefer me to be home with your pet(s) completely full time, please reach out well in advance of the requested dates, as I will need to make arrangements for my regular clients (please note that the rate does increase significantly if this is the case). For dogs, I do also prefer that owners be comfortable with me bringing pets along for car travel (I have a clean driving record and will always follow canine vehicular travel safety procedures that I am happy to go over with you; I will never leave your dog unattended in the car) so that we may still keep each other company while I complete my goings-on-about-town and to accompany me on other walks (only, of course, with both owners' permissions). Your dog is always welcome in my own home on my brief stops for the inevitable forgotten toothbrush or change of socks! Rate: [$85/night]* CANCELLATIONS Please kindly notify me at LEAST 2 hours in advance of a walk or drop-in cancellation, though I will be very grateful for further notice. I require at least 24-hour notice of a house-sitting cancellation. If you decide to reach out to me to care for your pet(s), please make sure you are available within a few days of our first contact for a "Meet-and-Greet" before we confirm the booking. If you are not available, please ensure that you are comfortable leaving written and/or video (or phone call) instructions for your pet's care, as well as the keys to your house in a hidden location for me to access and return after the walk/visit. Please note that I do absolutely require Meet-and-Greet's before all house-sitting stays. USING ROVER Both the Rover app and website can be frustratingly non-intuitive or user-friendly, and they are constantly rolling out confusing updates -- please let me know if there is ever any issue or confusion, and I am happy to do my best to answer with my own knowledge or get in touch with the Sitter Support via email. All payments, once confirmed, are held by the app until after the walk/visit/stay is complete, at which point the payment will be released to me within three business days. The app does charge both a service fee from the owner side that has nothing to do with what sitters charge, as well as charges 20% of the stay price from the sitter (in other words, sitters keep 80% of our earnings). All Rover Report Cards will be sent directly to your phone via text message immediately upon completion of the walk/visit. All messages that owners send me via the app/website are delivered directly to my cell phone via text. You are welcome to call me at any time once we have booked a walk/visit/stay -- those calls also go directly to my phone. *All rates will differ during Holidays. You will always receive a detailed invoice from Rover prior to confirmation of the booking or payment. Thank you for considering me to care for your pets -- it would be my great honor to provide care for them as if they were my own! I so look forward to speaking with you further; until then, I wish you and your furry/scaly/slimy friends all the best!

Emily is absolutely amazing. my pup struggles with strangers and other dogs on leash, and she handles it in stride and keeps him away from large triggers as much as possible. She is always so sweet to him and I know that she will keep him and her safe on their walks.
