I've adored animals for as long as I can remember. My brother and I begged our parents for a dog for years. My family started off fostering a few dogs out of an animal rescue organization in New Jersey, until we met our current pup. Within a few hours of having him, we knew he'd be a "foster fail." Having come from a shelter the south, our family dog has his quirks and certain fears, which I've grown to understand and accommodate (and love). He's considered a senior now, so I am comfortable caring for older dogs. I've also helped take care of our family cat since we got him as a kitten. That cat is 17 and 1/2 years old now, so I have experience with senior, special-needs cats as well. I just recently moved out of my parents' house and into a place of my own - and I am seriously missing the presence of my pets. Being around animals lifts my spirits and makes me so happy - so I think caring for your pets is a win-win for everyone involved!
