Grad student seeking fun part-time
Pet care experience
Hello, I’m Emily. I’m a grad student at Loyola Chicago. I signed up for Rover as a fun part-time job. I usually like to take walks around Lakeview and would enjoy the chance to help you and your pet. My family has had two big (80-110 lb) dogs (and other pets) for the last 6 years. I was responsible for our dog, Ellie, after I returned from undergrad and cared for her for two years (feeding, walking, grooming, playing). Since moving out in 2020, I really do miss her. I know that dog-sitting requires transparency with you and understanding what works for your dog and what doesn’t. Dogs require lots of love and a firm hold, the city is a distracting place and I know working with 85+ lbs can be a mess if you aren’t paying attention. I hope to find a regular client list.
Reviews
Emily is WONDERFUL. This was my first experience leaving my foster since having her in February. She is NOT an easy dog to take care of as she is dog aggressive, however, her transparency and patience made for a smooth process.
Emily is absolutely fantastic! Our dogs are very shy but they love going to see Emily as she invests a lot of time playing with them and making them feel safe, happy, and at ease. She’s also great at sending my wife and I updates and photos and makes us feel relaxed. She’s also very flexible, kind, professional, and generous. I’d strongly recommend Emily and we feel very lucky to have her watching our pups.
As a nurse working long hours and not being able to give my fur baby all the attention she deserves and needs, it was amazing to work with Emily who always took my Cutie on ~45 min walks around our neighborhood and the dog park when requested. She made sure to send me frequent updates and captured moments she knew I would love to see. Even though she has moved to the city, when she comes back to visit she offers to dogsit/spend time with Cutie so that she's never alone for too long. Loving, dependable, full of energy, and trustworthy.

Safety, trust & environment
I live in an smaller apartment with two roommates who often help me walk and play (so 3 for the price of 1). Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate multiple dogs unless they’re small and/or well trained because the walls are thin and we don’t want to be “those neighbors”.
Information Emily B. would like to know about your pet
It’s important to me that I can either meet your pet or video chat you beforehand - this makes meeting in person less confusing. Basic questions I usually ask are: - what’s your dog like? - what is important for me to know when dog sitting? (the do’s and don’ts) - what’s is the feeding schedule? - what’s the safety plan?
A typical day
I’m big on walks, playing with any toys you may bring over or are available nearby. I’m comfortable scratching nonstop or not touching your dog (I know some pets get anxious and prefer the sitter stays back).

Availability
I am a full-time student who also holds a part-time job during the week. So Friday to Sundays are when I’m available - I do try to keep my days flexible for any last minute dog sitting needs.
