Hello! I'm Emilie and my husband’s name is Troy. We live in Western Shawnee with our two daughters who are 15 and 17. We’ve been dog sitting through Rover for about 8 years now and we all love it! It really is a family affair, as we all take care of and love on the dogs! Prior to joining Rover, we enjoyed taking care of many of our friend's and family members dogs for them when they would go on vacation. We didn’t (and still don’t) have a dog of our own, so dog sitting was a way for us to have a dog temporarily! :) We actually became the go to "dog sitters" when anyone needed help! We tend to fall in love with all the dogs we watch and treat them as if they were ours while they’re with us. We decided we should start offering our services to others, since we enjoy it so much! People love their dogs just like a family member, so it feels much nicer to them knowing their dog is staying in a family setting and getting lots of attention vs being kenneled and maybe let out to play a few times. Little did we know, there is such a need for a service like ours! Our Rover dogs sleep in our beds (if allowed) and get tons of affection from all of us, as well as from our extended family & friends! They too, have gotten to know many of our regulars by name! Several dogs have gone with us to my parent's house in Topeka - one even joining us for Christmas and another for Thanksgiving! We know pets are a part of your family, so we treat them like part of ours. We have a large fenced in backyard with lots of room to run and play. I'd love the chance to talk with you and give you more info regarding our family and our home. Why I love dog sitting I have been a dog lover my whole life. I had a toy poodle for 16 years while growing up. She was a wonderful pet and definitely a part of our family. My daughter's both love dogs and really want one of their own, which I do too, but the timing just hadn't been right for us. But now we have lots of dogs we watch and have grown attached to, so I’m not sure if/when we’ll ever get one of our own?! :) Meet my pets None About my yard We have a huge backyard with a wrought iron fence. If you have a puppy or a small dog, we would want to check to make sure the gaps in the fence aren't too wide and if they are, we have a leash out front we use for the small dogs. I've posted pictures on my profile to show the layout of our backyard. The dogs also enjoy just laying on our deck watching everything going on outside!
