I grew up in a dog friendly home since the tender age of five, when I (lovingly) badgered my parents into allowing my sisters and me to get a dog. From that moment on, home has never felt complete without a dogs presence, they are a member of the family that provide unconditional love and support, and therefore deserve respect and devotion when it comes to their care. Every dog is different and their care should be tailored to their specific needs. That being said, dogs thrive in an environment of consistency and routine. Getting let out to pee and stretch the legs at regular intervals is key, as well as time spent just hanging out receiving attention and affection. I live very close to both Runyon Canyon (walkable) and Griffith Park (short drive) which both have exceptional trails for walking or running with dogs. The building in which I live has an elevator which can be utilized for dogs that are unable to climb the single flight of stairs to my apartment.
