Unfortunately my experience with Ella was not great. I had booked her to housesit and watch my dog while I went on vacation out of state for several days. After the first day I had to tell her not to come back. Since this was my first experience with Rover, I did have a back up plan thankfully. Ella did come to my house on the day I left - a couple hours later than she stated she would, which is fine, but this was the start of me second guessing my decision to have a stranger take care of my dog. She was there for a few hours and let my dog out when she got there, and prior to leaving which again was fine, that's what I expected. She left that afternoon and did not return. I have two outdoor cameras that alert me when there is motion or a person in the camera view, and one of those treat throwing furbo cameras in the living room (which I disclosed to her during our initial meet and greet prior to her accepting the job). I also have a smart lock that tracks when it's locked/unlocked. I always get worried about leaving my dog, so when I noticed that several hours had gone by and she did not return, I had a sleepless night checking cameras hoping she would come back. By 8am the next morning, since she had not returned, I had to contact my friend to go pick up my dog. He had been alone for approximately 17 hours at this point. When I told her to cancel the rest of the booking, she told me she did stay at my home, and was just getting up for the day, however my friend was also there at that same time picking up my dog and no one else was there. Nothing in the bedroom was touched, bed still made exactly how I left it. My cameras never showed her coming back, and the lock history still showed last locked at the time she left the day prior (before my friend coming and unlocking it). She was very apologetic and did offer to carry out the rest of the booking and also offered to go pick my dog back up from my friends house, however I couldn't trust her at this point. She was respectful of my decision and adjusted the charges for the rest of the booking, but did still charge me for the first night stay (that she didn't actually stay) and also charged me a $57 cancellation fee. I am hoping this was a one time incident in her case, as she does have other great reviews and repeat customers, and honestly seemed great when I met her. That is why I chose her in the first place. I was hesitant about writing a review at all, but I know we all love our fur babies, so I felt obligated to share my experience.

Ella took fantastic care of our cats while we were away. They were calm and happy when we came home. She even emptied our trash and recycling for us! :) Thanks Ella!!
