I booked Ella for housesitting for my dog and cat while I was out of town for over a week. Everything seemed fine until I came home from my trip and found a troubling situation regarding Ella's care of my cat during her booking. When I arrived home on Thursday, it was clear that any responsibilities toward my cat's care were neglected and my apartment was left in disgusting condition. The cat's litter box had not been cleaned out for days, there was an open baggie of cat poop just left in the bathroom (there were individual poop bags in the container?), and because the litter box had not been cleaned in what I am guessing was a least 4-5 days - there was crusted, hardened cat urine all over my bathroom. I could smell the stench from the hallway before I even entered my apartment. Because the urine was left to sit for days - it has stained my floor and tub and has left my entire apartment stinking to high heaven. If she was house-sitting I cannot imagine how you could ignore that stench or miss the urine all over the bathroom floor when using it. I was very clear both on Rover and in my PDF guide that cleaning the litter box was a necessary, regular task and since I was paying for cat care, cleaning the litter box over a week would be expected. My cat is older, and issues concerning her litter and bladder can cause her to have serious, expensive kidney and urinary issues at this stage in her life. When I reached out to Ella the day after requesting a refund for ONLY the cat care part of my booking, I received no reply and that is why I am leaving this review. I hope that she was good to my dog during my stay but I have no way of knowing. Rest assured this experience has left me very wary of Rover and I will likely be seeking pet sitters outside of this platform in the future.

Ella's was wonderful! She stepped in just about last minute when my plans changed over NYE. She was communicative and so good with my puppy! 10/10 - would recommend!
