I love to work with senior pets! 💌

Pet care experience

Pet care professional with 15+ years of experience, specializing in senior and special needs care. Lover of all animals, with no breed restrictions. Located in Ann Arbor, MI. LGBTQ+ friendly! Happy to work with clients of all races, genders, sexualities, religions, ages, or those with disabilities. Fully vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus, and I continue to take preventative steps to protect myself at all times. ⭐️ Please keep in mind, Rover takes 20% of the total that you pay me for my services! ⭐️ My name is Elizabeth (Lizzy), I am a 23 year old Ann Arbor native, and recently obtained my degree in social work. In the near future, I plan on returning to school to study environmental science! For as long as I can remember, I have had a massive heart for animals, both wild and domesticated. I was raised by two animal loving parents, and grew up caring for many pets, and wildlife, too. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 2 years old, both my older sister and dad are type 1 diabetics, as well. Thankfully this has allowed me to fully educated myself on not only diabetes, but a vast array of other medical conditions. My education on medical information continues to help aid me in caring for both senior, and special needs pets! Therefore, I am highly experienced (and comfortable) caring for blind, deaf, and physically disabled pets. Administering oral medications (in pill or liquid form), injections, fluids, and monitoring glucose levels is something that I can effortlessly provide- without stressing your fur baby out. My love for animals knows no bounds, and I am always interested in looking for new critters to care for. Previously, I have cared for: dogs (4-120 lbs), cats, guinea pigs, hamsters/gerbils/mice/rats, rabbits, birds, turtles, frogs/toads, newts, fish, hermit crabs, and even snails! I myself am a pet mom to a red eared slider, Steve (12), and three cats! Seniors Violet (15) and Avis (10), and our newest addition- Neptr (3). My special needs senior chihuahua, Bemo (17), passed recently. In my personal life, I have rehabilitated wild birds, squirrels, raccoons, turtles, frogs, and toads. My mother and I have cared for a feral TNR cat colony in our neighborhood for over 15 years. We work within our local community to help educate others on feral cats. We have assisted many neighbors in the process of rescuing both stray, and feral cats. While many of my clients are seniors and/or special needs pets, I am just as experienced in caring for perfectly healthy, young animals! I have looked after many puppy and kitty clients. I also pet sit for many repeat clients and neighbors, outside of the Rover app. If you click on my photo album, you can see all of the adorable pets that I’ve sat for! 📸

Lizzy watched our dogs and house while we traveled for a family wedding and she was phenomenal! Our dogs loved her and we could see right away, how caring, loving and responsible she is! I can’t say enough glowing words about her and would highly recommend her to sit for your pets and house. In fact, we are traveling again in the next few months and have already booked her to come back!! She is terrific!!

Lizzy was wonderful! I’m a nervous cat mom and I get anxious leaving our kitty behind - even for a short period of time. Lizzy’s communication, photos, and dedication to making sure our kitty was as comfy as possible while we were away out my nerves at ease! I also love that she is a fellow cat mom! I’ll definitely book with Lizzy, again, I’m the future!

Lizzy is wonderful to work with! I always felt we communicated well and I felt secure that she would take good care of my little dog! She sent cute photos which are so nice to receive when away from from my pet! She also took care of our home and left it in great condition. Which was so nice to come home to after long plane rides!! I will definitely use her again and highly recommend her!

Lizzy is fabulous!!! We will absolutely be working with her again. She was thoughtful (she washed our sheets!!, took out the trash, washed the pet's bowls, etc.), she sent us lots of photo updates of our babies, and was just overall a great communicator. I am relieved to find someone in the area who we can trust, we had a hard time moving and leaving our previous pet-sitter. Thanks Lizzy!! <3

Safety, trust & environment

I am not currently looking to board pets at my own home. The only exception I would be willing to consider, would be for easily portable critters (toads/frogs, hamsters, mice, rats, or rabbits.) However, my neighborhood has a huge park/nature reserve walk, that is perfect for dogs to enjoy. So I will occasionally bring dogs to the park over here (dogs will remain leashed at ALL times.) 🐕‍🦺 During my stay/visits, your pet will be in my constant supervision. I will be with your pet(s) for a majority of the day, and will sleep in your home, overnight (overnight bookings only.) Therefore, I am able to dedicate my utmost time, attention, and care to them. The guarantee that you receive with my services is that, your pet will not only be in cautious, caring hands, but I will treat them as if they were my own. Your pet will feel safe, comfortable, spoiled, and above all- genuinely loved! Safety is one of the most important aspects of this job. Therefore, I am always hyper vigilant that your pet is never put in an unsafe, or unpredictable situation. The same goes for your home, I will make sure your place is 100% safe, and well kept. You will always return to a clean, comfortable home. Additionally, I am always happy to check your mail, bring packages in, care for house plants- or outdoor plants, and can feed wildlife if that's something you regularly do (bird feeders, put out nuts, etc.)

Information Elizabeth V. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know ahead of time if your pet has any of the following: - Medical conditions, medications they take, medication doses, times that medication(s) should be given. - How your pet does with other animals, whether that be other dogs out walking, or wild animals in the neighborhood. - Behavioral or aggression issues, any known triggers that may upset, startle, or distress them. - Occurrences with potty accidents, or puking. Just so I know what to expect, and what’s normal vs. abnormal. - I appreciate any notes or directions that you leave me/send through Rover. The more you thoroughly inform me on how to care for your pet(s) (likes/dislikes, behavioral occurrences, day to day diet/feeding time(s), exercise/play regimens, and sleep schedule) the better I can provide structured, stress-free care for them.

A typical day

While I do not offer boarding services, I do have a large park right next to my house, as well as a huge open field that is great for dogs to walk or run at! So, sometimes I will bring dogs to the park at my house to get some exercise in. I am happy to provide exercise, long walks, or runs for your fur baby (weather permitting.) Additionally, I enjoy taking dogs on car rides, if that’s something your pet(s) enjoy! If they are more of a lounge around kind of critter, I will also gladly relax with them & provide plenty of love and cuddles. Please let me know if your pet likes to play any kind of specific game(s), or has special toys that they enjoy. I always try my best to provide fun, stimulation, and entertainment for your pet(s)! If you leave brushes or combs out for your pet, I will gladly provide daily grooming for them. Lastly, if your pet is allowed to have treats, I’m always happy to give out snacks too! Please just let me know where their treats are & specify what is okay for me to give them.

I am happy to collaborate with you on scheduling, and will freely answer any questions that you may have about me, or my services.
