Veterinary Technician & Pet Sitter

Pet care experience

I was a veterinary technician for 12 years. I left the field at the beginning of July to attend driving school for my CDL. I don't start my new job until mid September, so I'll have some free time the first two weeks of September to do some pet sitting and dog walking. I don't pet sit in my home- I stay at the clients home with their pet since it allows the pet's environment to remain the same, which often equates to the pet being more comfortable. I mainly pet sit for cats and dogs, but i enjoy small animals as well. Other services I offer are drop-in visits for feeding, potty breaks, administering medications, and subcutaneous fluids, and dog walking. If verification of my background is desired, I can give you the name and phone number of the veterinary clinic I worked at until leaving the field.

I found Elizabeth (Ellie) on Rover and was excited to see she was a vet tech. My dogs have a few issues and I wanted someone who could administer medications as necessary. After hearing a recommendation with no red flags and a positive meet and greet, I booked Ellie to stay with my two dogs (one big/one little) for 8 nights. Her communication with me before and during the visit was excellent. She also communicated well with the daytime dog walkers. When a conflict arose, she was very conscientious about getting coverage. When we returned, the dogs were in great shape and so was the house. She was very neat and respectful of our home. As a side note: when I left my little dog she had just been diagnosed with an ear infection. When I returned to my vet today for a recheck of the ear, that infection was gone thanks to Ellie who did all the care while I was away. I will not hesitate to use Ellie in the future!

As a first time Rover user I was quite nervous, and I was lucky to have found Ellie (Elizabeth). She totally put me at ease. She was very (pet and human) friendly, warm, and extremely responsible! Her stay with my dog was short, but great! Would definitely use her again!

Safety, trust & environment

I try to keep their routines the same so that they're comfortable and not stressed while their parents are away. I find pet sitting in the owners home causes less stress for the pet than boarding.

I have a soft spot for pitties and all brachycephalic breeds. I find it important to know of any medical conditions the pet has or medications the pet is on.

I thoroughly enjoy dogs accustomed to hiking regularly and will keep up that routine. For dogs who don't hike, there's always walks around the neighborhoods and local parks!
