Being a mother to my dogs helped me gain the skills I needed to be a mother to my now 16 yro daughter. And being a single mother, as well as always having at least one dog made me into the pack leader that I am. Being aware and responsible for life other than my own at all times is embedded in who I am. Even when I sleep I am ready to attend to the needs of my furry family. I am currently self employed and have a very flexible schedule. I not only grew up with dogs, but have had my own dogs since I left home. In raising many dogs over my lifetime I have attended numerous dog training classes, as well as in depth personal study of dog behavior and training. I understand dog psychology and communication. I know how to handle and read dogs in groups and feel confident in my ability to care for your beloved dog. I own a very gentle, yet large neutered male dog whom is the most well trained and mannered dog I've owned. He is great with other dogs including small dogs and old dogs. He has never fought with other dogs and submits when needed (he isn't an alpha). My dog attends group dog walks many times a week and is very welcoming to other dogs coming into our home, he is able to relax and not bother dogs who communicate they don't want to play, as well as play like a puppy with any dog that is game. He would be with me when I take care of your dog. If I am walking your dog or just visiting having another dog who is very friendly with dogs is a bonus, because dogs thrive in packs and are social animals. I see my dog's presence also as a good influence on any other dogs he is around, dogs learn from each other and my dog has many good traits to pass on. I live in Oakland, near the Temescal District. Since I only have one dog, my home is ideal for dog playdates and even overnights. I would love to host dogs that would enjoy hanging out in my house/yard with the company of my favorite dog on earth. We have a nice space and generally leave the back door open so the pups have access to inside and out. I hope to hear from you!
