Dog lover and canine companion!

Pet care experience

Growing up, I have always loved dogs and all animals. Now that I have completed my BA in Psychology, I am looking forward to spending more time furthering my animal care career with dog walking and sitting! Eventually I wish to pursue a career in wildlife conservation or animal therapy. In the past I have volunteered at local animal shelters, been a personal dog walker while living abroad in the UK, worked at a doggy day care while completing my degree, and hosted dogs for day care and overnights in my home. Whilst living abroad in Australia (just returned!) I lived and worked on a large cattle station where I was responsible for the care of the stations' many dogs and other animals, pets and livestock. I love working with all animals and am excited to be home and to continue this journey.

I had a great experience with Elizabeth. She was patient and accommodating to all my questions and concerns as it was my first time leaving my pup. My puppy seemed happy and well taken care of. I am happy and will definitely use her again next time.

Elizabeth was great to work with! We had just moved to the area and needed a sitter for the holidays. It is scary to leave our "little guy", especially with a stranger, but Liz put me at ease during our meet-and-greet. One of the things I especially liked was that he wasn't left alone for any length of time. He got lots of attention from Liz and family, plus had a couple other pups to hang out with. Her home has a small back yard that is fully fenced and secure, and there are walking trails close by that Jake loved. This was our first experience with DogVacay, and we will definitely use it again. I love that our pup was in a loving home while we were away.

Information Elizabeth H. would like to know about your pet

Before boarding a dog overnight in my home, I need to know their age and energy level, if there are any other pets in the owner's home and how well the dog and other animals get along. I will also need to know how much time the dog usually spends alone during the day, a rundown of the dog's normal daily routine, and if the dog is crate trained and how often they are crated. I only crate dogs if it is the owners standard routine to do so. Finally, I will need to know if the dog has been sick recently or takes any medications that I will have to administer, and if the dog has any spooks or triggers I need to be aware of.

A typical day

I am lucky to live in a brand-new, gated housing community that sports several lakes, grassy fields, and trails to take dogs on walks and to play. There is a local dog park a five minute drive from my home, and living in the East Bay Area, we are spoiled with many hiking trails in the area. I love to go on long walks, explore the countryside and the delta, or just relax outside at the park where your pup can run on the grass or play with other friendly dogs in the neighborhood. Dog walking and sitting is my priority and only obligation, so your dog will never be left unattended for long periods of time!
