Am I a cat person or a dog person?

Pet care experience

I love all animals. I had a parrot, During my married life, I had a husky, Austrailian Shepherd, and 2 German shepherds, all in obedience school. I had 2 horses, one of which, I did some training. In WV fostered several dogs. I presently have a cat. Due to the regulations in my apartment complex, I can only have one pet. I am choosing pet sitting not make a lot of money, but to enjoy what I am doing for extra income. I recieve a generous pension with benefits but find the cost of living in RI a lot higher than WV. I have always been a stay-at-home wife without a need for employment and since I have 2 strengths, cleaning and animal care. I am also trying to support a horse and would particularly like to work in a barn, cleaning, feeding on a strict scheduie, putting horses out bringing them in, grooming, checking feet, or any other chores having to do with them. The uploaded photo is the owner of the barn, who broke her leg. This photo was taken a few minutes after my horse foaled. It was too late i the evening for me to be there. In the times between horses, I have spent a lot of time walking dogs. My two German sheherds enjoyed at least 2 leashed walks a day. We had a fenced in yard but the high point of their day was their walks. Whether 90 degrees or 20. I lived in Plymouth on the Cape Cod bay and that was when I had my huskie who enjoyed a free run on the beach and swimming in the surf even on 20 degree days. He required 3 very long walks. Even though I had my own dogs, I would on occasion walk a dog for someone else who could not do it, like the golf pro who sometimes brought his dog to work. I sat for friends and neighbors and was known to get up in the middle of the night during a thunderstorm to bring a dog to my home. I cannot do that now, but should I feel that a dog would be stressed by not having his family at home would be willing to stay. My australian shepherd was a love but had a stroke at a young age and needed care for her short life. My first dog was a german shepherd and I was 5 when she came on the scene. My town was a farm town and at that time there were no leash laws. I fostered a few dogs in WV, the long haired in the photos was one that I picked up in the freezing rain. He had no hair. I kept him for 6 months, nursed him and still am in touch with his family. I rescued a huskie, a shepherd, another Heinz and two more. During my married years there were dogs who had never been on a walk. I love spending time with dogs because things, just little things like a game of throw or which hand is the treat in make them so happy and makes me happy with the hugs and me getting my face washed with drool or just getting my attention refocused with a gentle paw. I feel routine is a must, especially in the abscence of the owner as a stressed dog can become ill. I feel that dogs health needs to be closely monitored, their paws checked for things like splinters or cuts, close attention to stools, urine output, and whether they are stressed by noting panting or other signs. I guess that is it. You can contact me for questions. I would be happy to answer them.

Information Elizabeth B. would like to know about your pet

If the dog is a shepherd who is well behaved, not dog aggressive, I would be willing to walk them. Otherwise a dog up to about 60 pounds or so. All the other things like perhaps accidents from a stressful situation are my responsibility to help your pet feel comfortable and less stressed, reassured and shown the way with a gentle approach. Other than that just a heads up on out of the ordinary behavior not normally seen.

A typical day

I like parks and wooded areas if only just a small patch where they can aquaint themselves with the unusual. Also parks for the same reason.
