I completed my undergraduate honours thesis on the human-animal bond & am going into my second year of my masters degree this fall. I was a volunteer at a local animal shelter for many years and have grown up in a household often caring for 6+ animals at a time. I have formal training in dog/cat training, reading animal body language, and recognizing signs of common health concerns as well as have lots of experience with all dog breeds, sizes, and ages. Within this past 2 years, I have also obtained certificates in animal care and pet first aid. Currently, I live in a house with my partner, Benjmain, our dog, Ellie, and our cat, Gilbert. Ellie absolutely adores other dogs and people, and is currently being trained to become a therapy dog. *Because we have a small cat I would prefer to only host dogs that get along very well with cats since Gilbert is very social and likes to always be in the middle of the action.

Elena is one the most energetic and passionate people I have ever met. Her love of life and animals is contagious, and it's clear the second you meet her that your dog is in great hands. She is writing her thesis on animal behaviour and has taught me a completely different way of training my dog, with a huge focus on positive reinforcement and reward based training. Elena get's up early every day and is dedicated to giving her animals above and beyond the mental and physical exercise they need, and boy does she love taking photo's and sending updates. I highly recommend Elena to anyone who's worried about leaving their little one alone for the first time, as her calm, fun attitude will have you feeling confident in no time. Thank you Elena!!

I used Elena for doggy day care and she was beyond wonderful with my 4 month old puppy! She was so kind and loving towards him and he got along so well with her pup! He came home super tired as Elena was sure to walk him plenty and have lots of play time!

No breed preferences. As long as they are friendly with other dogs and people that is all that matters. Before I dog sit I would like to know if they have any phobias or special needs though so I can accommodate them. If you would like dog boarding, I just ask that we schedule a time for Ellie to meet your dog prior so we can ensure that they will get along!
A typical day
There are two small ravines close to my house where I usually go on 2 long walks a day (about 1.5hours altogether). These can be cut shorter though if your dog is smaller or less active. We will also play games during the day that keep them mentally engaged like the "find it" game (hiding their food/treats in different places), fetch, or use one of the many dog puzzles I own.
