Senior Paws - need love too!

Pet care experience

I have been a pet owner for over 30 years. My family and our vet like to say, “we grow them old” at our house. I have come to love caring for senior dogs and cats. Senior animals remind us to slow down and enjoy the moments. I also love caring for all cats and dogs, but realize that when our “fur family members” become older, it is harder for us to get away or do certain things because of their special needs. I would like to allow you to get away, knowing that your senior will be well loved, cared for, and safe. I can care for younger cats and dogs as well. Maintaining your animal’s routine is important to me. I know that younger pets have different needs and are far more active. I enjoy the younger animals' energy and will help meet their needs, whether by playing with them, walking them or grooming or snuggling with them. I like to have a “meet and greet” with you and your pet(s) before the first sitting at no charge. This allows them to meet me and for me to see how they interact with you and learn about their needs and favorite activities. Additional skills Oral/transdermal medication administration Injected medication administration Subcutaneous fluids administration First aid & CPR certified Senior cat and dog experience Special needs experience (cancer, blindness, deafness…) Special dietary needs experience (kidney disease, liver tumors, cancer, anxiety) Special mobility needs experience (ramps, harnesses…) Daily exercise, stimulation and play

Eleanor is one of the best pet sitters that I have every come across. She has been caring for my aunt's cats while she was in the hospital and has been such a huge help. She befriended the cats immediately and gained their trust - which is a big feat considering these cats are extremely shy! She has been there for Percy and Tipper in the way my aunt would've wanted. I am so grateful to have found Eleanor, thank you so much!!

Eleanor took wonderful care of my cat. In addition to making sure he was fed according to instructions, she gave him lots of attention and play time. And I received very detailed reports about how each visit went. I wouldn't hesitate to use Eleanor's services again.

Eleanor was an outstanding caretaker for my two cats—generous in her time with them, attentive to their personalities and individual needs, and thoughtful and thorough in making sure that the cats were safe, comfortable, and cared for. She was sensitive, intuitive, and perceptive to the cats’ demeanors and shared thoughtful details about them in visit updates.

Eleanor has taken care of our dog Freida before. She’s very conscientious and cares about the welfare of our pet.

It’s important that I am able to maintain your senior pets' quality of life while you are away. What health issues is your pet experiencing at the time of sitting? What medications are they on and how are they administered? Who is their vet? What do they do to relax? What is a typical day for them? Do they like to be brushed? Special treats or toys? How often do they go outside? How long are their walks? How are they with other pets? Are they reactive to other animals? People? If they are nearing end of life, do you have plans in place if your vet is not available?

Information Eleanor P. would like to know about your pet

I would want to know how your dog is with other dogs. Do they intereact with all dogs similiarlly or does size matter? Also, how is your dog with children, elderly people or people with special needs? What about "men in hats"? or other reactios they may have when they interact with other people? I also want to know if your dog uses a gentle leader, special harness or leash. And how do you reard them? or how do you encouage appropriate behavior? verbally? treats? A typical day

Routine is important for dogs, but new smells are fun too! As a cyclist and former runner, I am familiar with almost all of the entire greenbelts and paths all over Davis. I would start by walking your dog in their own neighboorhood and expand fro there if the owner agrees. Your dog would remian on leash at all times and would be actively supervised whenever other dogs are around. If your dog has a favorite dog park or furry friends, I would try to arrange that they could interact if it is safe a appropriate to do so.
