I started watching dogs with Rover.com 7 years ago and had a lot of repeat doggie stays we moved to Collegeville and now reside in Harleysville. I have always loved dogs since early childhood and always dreamed of owning show dogs as a little girl. Has luck would have it, I met just the right people that guided me into a new hobby of training, showing and breeding Wired-hair Fox Terriers along with German Shepherds Dogs which I did for over 30 years. I showed in conformation and obedience work and earned degrees on my dogs. It was as much fun as rewarding to me. We also have owned other little dogs, Boston Terriers for my two sons and a Yorkie for my daughter. We live on 2 acres in a country setting in Harleysville now. We have a great open field for lots of play and running as well as a fenced in pool area of about 1/3 acre. My husband and I have watch family and friends dogs here and have always enjoyed having them. We have a German Shepherd named Logan who is very laid back and loves play with us and other dogs He is very gentle and sweet, a real gentleman. We also have a Boston Terrier named Hailey who love to play and attention from everyone. Because I was with Rover.com watching so many different dogs and puppies from when both of my dogs were very young they are use to all kinds of dogs and love playing with them. I wanted you to know since I'm retired, I have plenty of time to love on your "Best Friend"! Why I love dog sitting When I was a little girl I always wanted a dog, but Mom wanted no parts of it. I would plead with her "PLEASE"!!! A few years later on my paper route I found a cute little puppy, and that changed everything for Mom and me!! I have always dreamed of owning show dogs and competing in competitions. Well my dreams became reality, and I loved it! I trained Wired-hair Fox Terriers and then German Shepherd Dogs. I competed in both conformation and obedience, I did enjoy obedience competitions more. Each of my dogs earned degrees, I also bred Fox Terriers & GSD's. As well as training my own dogs I started holding obedience training classes at my home. It was so much fun. I started raising German Shepherds and have had them for over 42 years, they are my favorite breed. My children wanted dogs of their own, so we also had Boston Terriers and a Yorkie. Not only did we have dogs in our home we also had lots of cats, chickens, goats and horses. Now that all of my helpers grew up and moved away, we only have the dogs. There's tons of room to run and play with lots of trees for shade and a fenced in swimming pool. We have moved from Boyertown where I first started my Rover dog sitting. The back of the house has a sunroom as you enter into the house to keep wet and muddy paws contained until we dry off those paws. The laundry room has a deep sink for easy clean up with a nearby mudroom for hanging up leases and dog coats.. We keep dog beds in a few of our rooms in our house for curling up on. The dogs also have fresh water which we keep in the kitchen. In the summer time we have a kiddie pool to splash around in and if you bring a life jacket and you just have to go for a dip in the pool, well that's fun too!! Our dogs love to swim with us. About my yard We are lucky enough to live on a 2 acres. The back yard has some large shade trees. The back yard is plenty big for lots of great exercise and ball playing. Our yard is large with an in-ground swimming pool with fencing around about 1/3 acre 2 gates that automatically locks. Our sunroom is closed in and it's nice for those quick summer showers to stay dry and still enjoy the cool air on hot summer days. In the summer I take the dog beds outside as my Boston Terrier loves to lay in the sun. We also leave water outside too on those hot summer days. My experience administering medication Of course you know having a dog they are bound to get sick which means you are going to play nurse maid to them. Giving medications are something you need to pay close attention to when your vet shows you how to administer them. I have asked many questions about each of the meds. my pets needed and I have gone over their directions carefully with my vet, if I don't understand the directions I ask again and sometimes I write it down. I know it's so important to get it right!
