I’m 30 and picked up my first dog from the pound when I was 23. I got him for my wife originally, we don’t have kids, and he’s made me a dog person. I understand special needs. He’s got separation anxiety and a sensitive stomach, so four years ago I switched to work from home to be with him all the time and we spend a little extra money to buy him special food to help with his sensitive stomach. I don’t have any special training, just what I’ve learned from my dog and family’s dogs, but I’m comfortable picking them up, I’m large so big dogs can’t get away from me and when I first got mine, he would try to run away so I learned how to take precautions so that we don’t have any running away on us.
