I enjoy working with dogs of all sizes and ages. All breeds welcome. If your dog needs company for an extended period of time, I will do everything I can to let him or her know that they have a reliable activity and cuddle buddy while you are away. During multi-day house stays, I provide complimentary training (no extra fee). This helps keep your pup stimulated, increases the bond between your dog and me, and helps me keep your dog safe. With many dogs, I work on basic commands that they haven’t learned, or have not completely mastered when in a more stimulating environment. These include come, sit, stay, and leave it. I also help dogs with social skills with humans (e.g. not jumping up on people), leash manners (e.g. not pulling), and ways to play and expend energy (e.g. how to play fetch). I prioritize training skills that help keep the dog safe first and skills/ manners that will make walks and interactions more pleasant second. Puppies who are working on house training and appropriate things to chew will have those things prioritized. The number and types of skills worked on will depend on how much time I have with your dog, and their motivation. Dogs’ interest in training varies by age and breed. If your dog has mastered the basics, I can work on teaching them a more advanced trick or skill of your choice. If you have a senior dog who really just needs love and attention, or you prefer that your dog not receive complimentary training, then exclusively cuddling and quality time during walks and gentle play is A-ok. I use positive reinforcement for training, such as small treats or toys, coupled with pets and verbal praise. If I do regular walks and drop-ins with your dog, I can also incorporate complimentary training into the 30 minute session upon request. Just let me know what skill(s) you’d like prioritized.
