Pet care experience
Thank you for looking at my profile! My name is Ed and I have an extensive background with knowledge and experience pertaining to animal care and handling. I am a graduate from Norfolk County Agricultural High School in Walpole, MA where I had many classes in animal science throughout my four years in high school. Some of these classes included canine science, grooming and kennel management, and veterinary sciences, and a variety of others. I am currently a full time student overseas at Aberystwyth University in Aberystwyth, Wales. At university, my undergraduate degree that I am working towards is in Zoology. Outside of the classroom, I am still highly active in animal care. I have previously worked at a German Shepherd breeder, and I have also been employed at large scale doggy daycares, where I have dealt with all different sizes and different breeds of dogs, as well as different temperaments and things that make them unique. I am currently employed at an animal hospital as a surgical veterinary assistant. I also own my own dog named Gunther and he is a 4 year old German Shepherd and I raised him since he was a puppy. Ed did an absolutely amazing job watching our dog Hades. He has so much experience with dogs and large breeds like ours, it was very reassuring leaving our active puppy with him. He arrived first thing in the morning and took him on numerous long walks around Boston. He kept me updated throughout the day with plenty of pictures and texts. I would like to be able to understand the dog as much as possible and what their routine typically is to ensure that they can continue to maintain it while their owner is away and have the best quality of care as possible for themselves and the owner. I would also like to get to know the dog so that they can be familiar with myself, and be comfortable.
A typical day
- Walks (can be any location the owner prefers) such as beach, city, woods, etc... - Supervised toy play (kong, bullystick, catch) - Reenforcement with training (leash work, off leash work, recall) - Small groom (nails, ears, brush-out)
