Pet care experience

Working for Rover isn’t just a side job for me—it’s the next step in my career. I was inspired to become a sitter while working for PetSmart pet hotel. I have been with Rover for 8 years now, and professionally caring for pets of all kinds for 9 years and had my own dogs since I was a kid. I also am a registered volunteer foster parent with Austin Pets Alive (APA), saving dogs in need from being euthanized and helping them find their forever homes. APA and its many volunteer fosters have helped keep the city of Austin a no-kill city with 97% success rate. I am also a member of Love-A-Bull, a group that aims to end all the stigma sorrounding the bully breeds, and to promote responsible guardianship and advocate for the breed that was once so loved and trusted by so many Americans and people all around the world as "The Nanny dog". These seriously misunderstood breeds are unfairly labeled as aggressive. End the mistreatment of the bully breeds! I share an apartment with my girlfriend Leslie in South Austin. She is the other half of my success with rover. She helps me care for all the dogs that come stay with us. We have a comfortable 2 story unit here and most of our neighbors have dogs as well. There is also 2 different dog parks within walking distance that have plenty of space for play sessions. What’s most important to me is that I make your dog as comfortable as possible while in my care. I always like to find out your dogs usual routine, or what a typical day is like for them at home. Things like, what time do they usually get up, how many times they are used to being fed and how much at a time, what commands they know, and how you reward good behavior or are you working to correct any unwanted behaviors you'd like me to do as well. Consistency is the most important part in training, if you make sure the care details include any information you would like me to follow while they are in my care, I always read that info. I'm also happy to make sure to provide any special types of care they are used to upon request as well so don't hesitate to ask. I also can handle breeds of all sizes, Senior dogs and Special needs dogs. I can administer medications (if needed), IV medications included. I require a meet-n-greet before any first booking with me. Meet-N-Greets are a great way for me to meet your pup and determine if I will be a good fit to care for your pup. Most meetings take only about 10-20 minutes and wether we decide to proceed or that it won't be a good fit, I always bring treats with me so your pup will get to at least take some home for later as a thank you from me for allowing me to meet you and your pup. I provide constant updates throughout the stay and will include as many photos and videos in each update as i can so you know your pup is happy, and safe, and having a good time during each booking and day camp. If you have any questions about my skills, qualifications, or the type of care i provide please dont hesitate to reach out. I have no doubt if you choose me as your pet care provider you will not be disappointed. :)

Dylan was very responsive and a great communicator! We are fussy parents and he was friendly and accommodating of our all our questions and pupdate requests. Our pup needed to eat a special food while she was staying over and he did a great job with the instructions our vet shared. A fellow dog owner, he knows the small things they need, especially when away from their owners.

Fortunate to have found Dylan the day before Thanksgiving. He took great care of my baby, even worked with her on a few common commands (lie down/sit/stay,etc) to reinforce training. I was thrilled that he has other dogs there to help keep her company. I would 100% recommend Dylan and will be using him again.

Dylan was great for our Weim, Bastian. He knows how to take care of a somewhat difficult breed of dog. Will 100% use Dylan again.

My apartment is actually 2 that are connected, on the first floor has a staircase that connects the 2 units inside, and there's a door on booth floors, and there is a dog park right across the street and I love to take my pups and any others with me at the time to the dog park and make sure they get plenty of exercise. I feed twice daily usually, once in the morning and once in the evening, and anywhere from 2-6 potty walks a day depending on when and how often they want to go. I can administer most medications, and can handle special needs dogs as well, seniors, all are welcome or any age, breed, size, as long as they are friendly with other dogs then they're welcome. My pups love the company and your babies will get plenty of love and affection while you're away, most of the neighbors here also have dogs and are very dog friendly and love to say hi to any pups. I send frequent updates that will usually include a photo or a few, depending on how cooperative the pups are when I try to take pictures, haha. I also offer training classes, online only for the time being, will do in-person training soon. Any questions dont hesitate to ask!

Information Dylan L. would like to know about your pet

I like to ask a specific set of questions before each stay during the meet and greets to help me get to know your pup and i always give the pet parents the opportunity to highlight anything they want to make sure that is done, feedings, exercise, potty breaks, medication schedules, special needs, specific behavior quirks their pup may have, (e.g. if they will randomly see a bucket, stick their head into it and bark 2 times a day, or they have to spin 5 times exactly before they lay down every time, whatever it may be)

A typical day

It all depends on what your dog enjoys most! If they’re used to sticking close to home, then I’ll make sure to have plenty of toys and activities like tug-of-war. If they prefer the outdoors, then we’ll go for plenty of walks around the neighborhood and get as much exercise outside as possible. We can go to the dog parks that are close by and play all day with my pup Colson and Leslie's new puppy Bubbles! They both would love to run around with your baby or we can all just get comfy on our huge king size bed and snuggle up. I promise your pup wont be left alone to sit in a cage or not be with one of us. This is what i dedicate my time to professionally, and i take it very seriously.
