Dylan was booked as a housesitter to look after my dog and cat. My experience with Dylan was frankly horrible, and I'll list everything out below for others to consider when booking their housesitter. I am currently pursuing a refund from Rover for this experience. Communication left much to be desired, he sent 1 single picture of my cat over the course of 5 days, and sent me bare minimum updates only after I chased after him for any sort of update. Dylan was fairly MIA in terms of presence and communication, which is not what you pay a Rover housesitter for. When I got home, there was a horrible stench of stale beer hanging over the apartment, and I soon discovered why. Dylan had left puddles of spilled beer all over my wooden tv console unit, the wood floor, and countless beer stains on my living room carpet. I know this not only because of the smell, but because of the beer bottle caps he left all over my floor for me to clean up as well. I completely understand if my housesitter wants to enjoy themselves in my home, but have the respect to not make an absolute mess in someone else's home, and certainly CLEAN UP after yourself if you make a mess. My cat's litterbox had been completely untouched for the 5 days Dylan was housesitting for me. I know this because of the stains all over my bathroom floor where my cat had multiple accidents because his litterbox was such a horrible mess. Dylan was hired very clearly to housesit for my dog and cat, and my cat's bare minimum needs were neglected. The last surprise I received was when I opened my freezer. There was broken glass everywhere and had frozen to the bottom of my freezer. Dylan had apparently left that for me to clean up after him as well. When I reached out to Dylan to have an honest conversation about my frustrations, he did not deny one single thing, nor did he accept any sort of accountability for what he had done. I asked him what if someone had left HIS home like that, how would he feel? As mentioned above about his lack of communication, perhaps the most frustrating thing is that he just packed up his stuff and left, without a SINGLE WORD about all of the messes that he had made in my home and left for me to deal with. Dylan, I hope you learn how to manage your business and the people you are working for with more respect, responsibility, and accountability moving forward.
