My journey begins at a dog rescue center for adoption and boarding. I was a kennel technician, so I assisted with taking care of all the dogs morning and night. During my time there, I was fortunate enough to observe and assist the weekly veterinarian appointments. I was taught proper dog handling, how to collect basic physical data, and measure/administer common oral medications (pill, powder, or liquid-filled syringe). We received high volumes of rescues on a weekly basis, so I am well trained to provide care to dogs of any shape, size, and quantity. As of today, I continue to work with dogs full time at a doggy daycare. We are a growing facility where the staff TREAT EVERY DOG AS IF IT’S OUR OWN. Although I have only worked there for a year, my knowledge of dog behavior and body language has grown immensely. I work primarily with the ones who are not suitable for a daycare setting due to their behavior and personality traits (e.g. selective and/or reactive). Through careful evaluation and observation of each dog, we are able to determine potential playmates for socialization. In order to confirm compatibility, the team performs introductions in a way that assures their safety and well-being. I have experience working with dogs ranging from friendly to active to stranger danger. Other responsibilities include: cleaning, feeding, potty breaks, and exercise. The goal is to expand my knowledge as I help take care of dogs in local communities. I truly believe patience, understanding, and companionship are the true ways to any dog’s heart.
