My entire life I have always owned a dog and other animals to take care of. Playing with them daily, walking them often, giving them medications, none of this is new to me. I have spent time pet sitting with a friends business to get my feet wet but now I'm doing it on my own. The most important part is making sure to have a good expectation of what the animal owner wants and following through. This includes pictures texted to the owner if needed during a visit, following proper feeding patterns for animals, and being prepared for any emergency in case it happens. Each owner is always different with their animal, and its best to make sure they are accommodated corrected. After all, the pet is theirs and I am just the lucky guest who gets to take care of it for a time.
