Empathetic pet care

Pet care experience

Hi, I’m Doug, and I care about the well-being of your dog and/or cat. I have experience with all kinds of dogs, from a hyperactive 10 pound Chihuahua to a sensitive 150 pound Irish Wolfhound. Your pet’s individual needs are important, and I take them very seriously. One dog might need extended long walks and another might need tons of extra attention. One might have food allergies and another might have medical needs. Whatever it is, I can handle it. I also have a background in child care, through volunteering with foster children and professional babysitting experience. I’m a caretaker by nature. My boyfriend and I have one pet of our own, a one year old cat named Kiku, and we live in Long Island City.

I have known Doug for 10 years and can honestly say that he is one of the most trustworthy people I know. He is loyal and responsible, but above all he will love and care for your dog as if s/he was his own. He grew up with two large dogs (a Great Dane and an Irish Wolfhound), but seems to get along with dogs of all breeds and sizes - including my Golden, a friend's chihuahua, and even my aunt's Shepard mix, who tends to not like males! He is seriously a dog whisperer and dogs naturally are drawn to him. Without a doubt I would recommend him to walk and care for your pet!

When Doug told me he was applying for this job - it hit me! This is not only the perfect job for him but the ideal job. Doug as a friend started to help me out by walking my 4 year old pitbull named Lilo for me when I'm stuck working late and has done an impeccable job. When I come home she seems so much more happy and free to see me rather than anxious for me to take her out. And I have major trust issues with others walking my dog - she is incredibly hyper and unpredictable and he is like a Lilo whisperer. He knows how to walk her, keep her calm, and above all be her friend! When I ask him to walk her - his answer is never hesitant - its always, yes! of course! He is 100% a dog person and deserves this position, the dogs deserve him. Someone who is their friend, not just some guy who walks them time - to - time. A dog walker is someone who is just as excited to walk and see the dogs in their care as much as the dogs are excited to see their walker - and thats Doug.

I have found Doug to be a warm-hearted and caring individual who has a strong work ethic. He is a intelligent and intuitive individual who demonstrates a keen understanding of the needs of dogs. He approaches caring for dogs with a positive and open attitude which I have found is key to his success. As a worker, he is trust-worthy and responsible. With great enthusiasm, I recommend Doug as an outstanding candidate to be your dog's best friend and caregiver!

Doug dog sat for my chihuahua Snuggles last summer. Snuggles is somewhat nervous and high-strung, so I was concerned about leaving him with someone he didn't know. Doug was patient and loving, and in no time He and Snuggles were the best of friends. I can also be a little nervous and high-strung, and was pleased to find that Doug was highly communicative, and was happy to deal with my check-ins, which were nearly constant at first. All around, Doug is a gentle and intuitive dog-lover, whom I trust implicitly to provide great care for your dog.
