LAST MINUTE CHRISTMAS PETSITTING!!

Pet care experience

I am a veterinary technician and established pet sitter with over 10 years of experience caring for all types of animals from parrots to Pekingese. I provide a unique boutique pet sitting service with added luxuries such as daily pictures, minor grooming, and a complementary bath and nail trim with every sitting reservation. I also provide a variety of other services for a nominal fee such as Skype sessions and errands such as dry cleaning pick up or package drop off. My most important asset as a pet sitter is my medical knowledge. As a veterinary technician, I have spent over 10 years treating pet medical problems in a clinical setting. I know when I can fix an upset tummy or when your pup truly needs to see the doctor. You will not have to worry about unnecessary trips to the veterinarian when you are out of town as I know how to fix most common medical ailments in your own home. I have a special place in my heart for senior and special needs pets. I acquired most of my established clients when their aging pets needed extra medical care and attention. While the average layperson can perform treatments like insulin injections, they do not have the medical training to properly monitor diabetes or know how to identify the symptoms of hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia. In addition to diabetes, I am also trained to expertly handle renal disease, Cushing's disease, thyroid disease, liver disease, cancer, and heart conditions. If you have a new puppy, I am well versed in puppy care as well as potty training and other behavioral training. I have pet sat for puppies for a few weeks and when their owners came home they found a completely potty trained puppy waiting for them! I can answer any questions you may have about everything puppy related from food to the types of flea/heartworm prevention available. Ask me about caring for your exotic pets as well! I have pet sat for koi fish, parrots, and lizards many times in my life. For the first part of my career, I worked in an exotic animal hospital and have a wealth of information to share about exotic pets. Allow me to take care of your pet for either daily walks, occasional grooming, or while you take a much deserved vacation and you will see the difference between me and other sitters out there!

My husband and I met Doris about 6-7 years ago when she was our favorite vet tech. She has since become an important part of our family. She pet sits for us a couple times a year for 7-10 days each. We have her come 3 times a day for our 2 chihuahuas. She is trustworthy, reliable, takes amazing care of our boys, gives us daily updates. Basically peace of mind to enjoy our trip! I highly recommend Doris for your precious pet!

Information Doris P. would like to know about your pet

If you decide you would like to hire me, I will meet your pet in your home first and go over any special instructions you may have regarding your pet. I find that this first meet and greet sets the tone for later visits. I pet sit for all breeds from 250 pound Mastiffs to teacup toy breeds. I have no stigmas against any breed because input from humans is what molds dogs more than their genetics. In my life, my family has owned cocker spaniels, mixed breed dogs, German Shepherds, catahoulas, blue laceys, and pitbulls.

A typical day

I love to engage with the pets I sit for and really get to know their unique personalities. I keep my client base small so I always remember minor details about each pet and never need to rush my appointments. If you are hiring me for drop in visits while you are in town, walks will typically occur around your neighborhood to maximize your pets exercise. When I am pet sitting at your home while you are out of town, I typically take your pet on special adventures to walking trails, parks, or the dog park if your pet enjoys these activities. However, I also understand that some pets are homebodies and will instead engage them with play in their own home or yard where they are most comfortable.
