Pet care experience
Owned and trained animals most of my life. BS Animal Science from Iowa State University, Animal Behavior College Certified Dog trainer( ABCDT), worked as a veterinary assistant for 13 years at two different hospitals. I have volunteered at Animal Welfare Center in Milan, IL. and Polk county, IA. walking and training dogs. Owner and head trainer at BFF K9 and Pet Services. At my house at some point...horses, dogs, chickens, goats, sheep, fish, pocket pets,exotics, spiders, scorpions, snakes, lizards, birds, a steer, and four teenage boys. Can water plants, feed wild birds, get mail, or other household services while I'm making pet care visits or staying in your home. Can offer K9 clicker training or positive conditioning. Care levels and chores are open for discussion, and fees are subject to change based on this. Some owners desire that their animals remain in familiar surroundings (especially when there's several) with in-home sitting, or for a home environment with other friendly social dogs, I offer boarding in my home as well. I am a trustworthy dedicated Christian animal lover, and a US Air Force veteran. I use only essential oils, botanically based, and nontoxic products in my home and on my family and animals. The lawn and gardens, pasture, and orchard are naturally treated with beneficial nematodes to attack multiple insect larva, and lessen chance of toxin exposure and pest infestation while around my home. Bathing,T.N.C., and limited grooming available. I will come to your home and pick up your pets for free. You are welcome and encouraged to come over and see where they will be staying (pardon the DIY remodeling) and meet my family. Personal and professional references available upon request. Booking through Rover offers emergency protection coverage for your pets while you are away. I have 3 silly, well socialized and spoiled rotten dogs. That eat in their crates and do whatever we are doing, when they aren't napping. They have a dog door to a fenced yard, so they can go out to potty whenever they want. The puppy drags sticks, that shouldn't fit through the dog door, into the house. Because she's fun like that.

Where they aquired their dog, and how long have they owned them. Have they ever showed aggression toward other animals or people? Any information that could effect how the animal is cared for, or safety issues.ie. is your dog a runner if free, microchip info and is it up to date, wearing rabies tag on collar? Feeding Schedule. I have no breed preference as each animal is an individual. I can jog/walk 5 miles, or sit on the couch and scratch bellies. Maybe somewhere in between will work too. I'm not afraid of, nor do I dislike any breeds or groups. If the dog has past or current injuries, allergies, or sensitivities I like to know that. Whether or not obedience trained is helpful to know, and cues for each action. Example: "off" to get off me or counter surfing, and"down" to put belly on floor ...etc.
A typical day
Like they are my own pets. If non aggressive they can come into my house with my other dogs. If too hyper or not nice, they will be crated at nights on the porch or kitchen, depending on the temperatures and the breed of dog. Thick coated dogs, like my shephard, are more comfortable in the basement because it is the coldest place in the house in the summer. I want them to be happy and comfortable at my house, so they will enjoy it and want to come back. We spend a lot of time outside with our dogs playing fetch, hide and seek, or practicing obedience and tracking. I have a small fenced in area for my little dogs (50x50')square, and the garden is 100x200'. The rest is underground fence, which your dog can be trained to, if they are here for a long stay, or frequent stays. I have horse fence surrounding the rest of the acreage, but there are high spots where a dog could escape, so I don't consider that fenced for dog use. I'm an outdoors person all the way. I walk, run, ride bike,and horses. Go to dog park . I like to take a dog with me, weather permitting, on all errands and visits. Depending on behaviors and temperment I can take him/her to my farmstead to play, in the fenced part of the yard, and help me weed the gardens and dig in the dirt...be a dog. I will clean up after your pets, and can groom and bathe them at my house, if you wish. All levels of care can be accommodated per your request. I look forward to meeting with you and your pet(s).
